Weather Aware conditions continue overnight due to the potential for locally heavy rainfall. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 7 a.m. for the northernmost portions of Texoma including Atoka, Coal, Johnston, Murray and Pontotoc Counties Beware of flooded road-ways and never drive around barricades or into water more than six inches deep. High rainfall rates may reduce visibility and also increase the risk of hydroplaning. Turn around, don’t drown! Rain ends NW to SE during the day Thursday.
8-6-06 – Another Texoma town is issuing water restrictions. The City of Ada’s water department sent notices to residents and businesses on Wednesday. The city says the demand is much higher than the current supply and blames the drought for the water emergency.
The city is restricting unnecessary water usage. Residents will not be permitted to water lawns or fill pools. For area businesses, only essential water use is allowed. Flower shops and golf courses can only use enough to keep their business open.
The city manager says the city does not know how long the restrictions will remain in place.
