The city of Ardmore and a development company in Dallas are in the final stages of bringing a new shopping center to town, but there is already the chance of an expansion to that center.
The city planning commission is expected to approve a proposal that would zone more land for commercial use near the current plans for the Ardmore Commons at 12th and Rockford Road.
Plans to build a new movie theater, bank, and three additional restaurants are in the works for the Ardmore Commons, and Bill Bechtel with the Ardmore Planning Commission also says that the city is working on developing an area on the southwest side of that intersection.
The plans are to build an additional three restaurants and another bank on that section of land.
William Bechte, Director of Development Services, said, "It's good. We work for many years to build the infrastructure.”
We haven't been told yet what businesses and restaurants have been added to the roster at the Commons or across the street. Those details won't be made public at least for a couple more weeks. As for the groundbreaking, that is expected sometime in the next few months.
Dollar Tree, Petco and Dunlaps are just a few of the businesses that have already reached agreements with the shopping center.
