8-13-06 – The summer season is winding down at the Lake Texoma State Park and officials have announced a new off-season schedule – that would close the Lake Texoma State Lodge at the end of September.
The state-owned property may close September 30th when the Commissioners of Land Office’s contract with the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department ends. The Tourism Department is managing the property for the Commissioners of Land under the terms of an agreement formed after the sale property last August.
The state has set a deadline of August 23rd to review and accept bids for the work on the new lodge project.
If the state does not agree to pay for the costs of keeping the lodge open, it will close until a new buyer can re-open it. The move could result in layoffs for lodge employees. A redevelopment project for the Lodge and Chickasaw Pointe golf course fell through in May.
Even if the lodge closes, the cabins, golf course, and marina will remain open.
