The Marietta Police Department has a new chief.
The city council appointed 42-year-old William Baker to the post Monday night.
Before earning his new title, Baker served as a reserve officer then took on full-time duties. It's a goal he's dreamed of since he was a kid but says today was just like any other.
This is the first time Marietta has had a chief of police for several years.
Gary Huff served as police supervisor until he was terminated last month. He's now a Love County Sheriff's deputy.
