Weather Aware conditions continue overnight due to the potential for locally heavy rainfall. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 7 a.m. for the northernmost portions of Texoma including Atoka, Coal, Johnston, Murray and Pontotoc Counties Beware of flooded road-ways and never drive around barricades or into water more than six inches deep. High rainfall rates may reduce visibility and also increase the risk of hydroplaning. Turn around, don’t drown! Rain ends NW to SE during the day Thursday.
8-19-06 – Several Grayson County fire departments were busy keeping a large grass fire contained near the Hagerman Wildlife Refuge. The fire broke out shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The fire was contained to a valley, bordered by Judge Elliot Road, Wright Road, and Bennett Lane.
Several homes were near the fire, but authorities say they were not in immediate danger. Fire trucks were positioned around some homes as a precaution.
No injuries were reported.
