HUGO, Okla. ― A major fire Thursday morning at an abandoned apartment complex in downtown Hugo has been deemed suspicious.

Firefighters got the call just before 2 a.m. Thursday. The two-story structure was so large they did not have enough manpower to put out the flames quickly. In fact, it took firefighters about ten hours.

The shift captain says the building was vacant at the time. The windows and doors were boarded up, and there was no electricity or gas in the building. They say that makes the fire suspicious.

The Oklahoma State Fire Marshal is now investigating.
