DURANT, Okla. -- The southbound lanes of traffic are back up and running this morning after an early morning wreck on U.S. 69/75.

Authorities say the accident happened just before 5 a.m. A packaging van carrying several passengers was traveling southbound on the highway. The driver of semi traveling behind the van, reached down to pick something up off the floor of the cab, when he swerved to miss the van.

Officials say there were several injuries. The driver of the semi was taken to Texoma Medical Center, his condition unknown at this time. Three people in the van were taken to a local hospital in Oklahoma.

Due to the nature of the accident, there was a diesel spill. Crews were able to take appropriate action and clean up the mess quickly and efficiently.

I was not reaching in the floor the GPS came unstuck from the glass and was on the dash. My eyes never left the roadway. I just reached over and stuck the GPS back on the windshield and the next thing I know there was a truck in front of me either stopped or driving extremly slow with NO VISIBLE LIGHTS! SO ALL OF YOU that want to blame me don't always jump to conclusions. Because it is not always the truck drivers fault the 4-wheelers (regular cars) do make mistakes also!

The driver of the semi was not picking up anything out of the floor of the cab. It was foggy and still in question whether the packaging van had any tail lights. The driver of the semi had just seen a truck go by and watched the lights fade off into the fog, but the van he hit was not seen through the fog until it was too late.

Maybe if they released those 100,000 divers handbooks out in time, this would have never have happened. Being Oklahoma, someone must have been driving tooooooo slow, like usual.

I am surprised these accidents do not happen more often. I hope the company and driver were properly insured and take full responsibility as to this accident. There are to many buses and 18 wheeler that do not operate by the state and Federal government standards, and they are putting their passengers and other drivers at risk.
