BONHAM, Tex. ―A Bonham restaurant owner wants to warn fellow business owners after his restaurant was burglarized Thursday night as patrons were eating dinner.

Rolando Lopez, owner of Rolando's Tex-Mex Grill at Highway 56 and 121, says a tall white man in his mid-twenties came in just before 8:30 Thursday night, jerked the cash register out of the wall, and ran out the door to an awaiting getaway vehicle.

Lopez says he wants to warn other area business owners to keep a minimum amount of cash in the register during evening business hours.

Opinions from viewers is just part of the Broadcast News game. To Richard, using the formal criminal justice code definition...is NOT "common usage". The Newstory should be written so that the average person understands the story. I am the one that initally complained about the use of the word burlarize....and the staff note points out why they chose to use rob. Frankly, to describe the crime easily was hampered by the fact it was such a totally STUPID crime!

ok first off it wasnt hard for the man to take the register because it just sits on the counter and secondly people are to conserned with there own safety of there families to worry about getting back a stupid cash register. You ccan replace the money you cant replace a family member or a friend. There is something for yall to think about!!!!!!!

Pretty bold offense; he will be committing more. Fannin Co. needs to be on the look out for this guy. Any chance of a sketch or better description?

OK...so replace "cash register" with "plate of nachos", and you would have Shoplifting! Of course it does sound funny for someone to "shoplift" a cash register. Wheres Funk & Wagnall or Wesbster when you need them?

Sounds like a true "strong arm" robbery to me, since he ripped the register out of the wall.

Actually your use of "burglarized" seems correct according to the Texas Penal Code, which defines, inter alia, "burglary" as: "30.02. BURGLARY. (a) A person commits an offense if, without the effective consent of the owner, the person: (3) enters a building or habitation and commits or attempts to commit a felony, theft, or an assault."

OK so all the people that were in the restaurant, could not stop this man, what wimps you people are in Bonham, it would not have been that hard to stop this idiot

Give me a break, who cares what word they used. It's not like you can't read the story to find out what happened. If the people who obsess on spelling and grammar and proper word usage would put their energy to something meaningful like being a teacher (which they seem to like) we would have a lot more educators in the real world and not just the cyber world.

BURGLARIZE:verb, -ized, -iz⋅ing. –verb (used with object) 1. to break into and steal from: Thieves burglarized the warehouse. ROB:verb, robbed, rob⋅bing. –verb (used with object) 1. to take something from (someone) by unlawful force or threat of violence; steal from The thief didn't "break into" the restaurant,he walked in and robbed the place. KXII invest in a dictionary!! We actually debated that here, but there wasn't any threat made. He didn't brandish a weapon or threaten anyone. We went with burglary, on the assumption that "robbery" would give people the impression the suspect used force. When according to the owner the man just grabbed it and ran. -Staff
