SHERMAN, Tex. ― It's been a rough and tumble year for business as well as government entities across the county, but the City of Sherman took time Friday to look back on the positives of 2008.

Employees were recognized Friday by mayor Bill Magers, city manager George Olson, and the rest of the city's leadership team.

Despite layoffs across the country and even in some governments, Sherman hasn't experienced that this year.

"This year’s budget is pretty conservative. We really just try to focus on the things that are critical to the business. You shouldn't see that in the city of Sherman this year. We have a balanced budget. Our expenses are under control, and we're going to be just fine," Sherman mayor Bill Magers said.
