RINGLING, Okla -- A middleschooler is recovering in the hospital Friday night after a fight turns into a stabbing. It happened outside the Ringling Middle School Friday afternoon.

Police say a 14-year-old and a 12-year-old got into a scuffle this morning. Then, officials say sometime during lunch or recess, the 12-year-old stabbed the teen. Police say the younger boy pulled a knife from out of his hoodie and stabbed the teen in self-defense, after the teen punched the younger boy.

"He never really started it. They started it by circling him and pushing him around, which led up to him being fearful of his life and him going to the extreme of pulling a knife and stabbing the boy," said Ringling Police Chief Jeremy Wilson.

Police say no charges will be filed against the 12-year-old. They say the case has been handed back over to the Ringling School.

1st I want everyone to know just bc u come from ringling means nothing!I myself am far from this "mudcreeker" title but I guess everyone cant understand that! Now for u grampa u know nothing about this child! I have worked with him in class and he is a very bright and sweet young boy!I will be the first to comfort him.I have watched many of his classmates taunt him everyday. As for the child that got stabbd...maybe now he will learn not to bully as his classmates should! If your not in the school or know these children personally then keep ure comments to yourself! As a sr preparing myself for adulthood...I pray to be nothing like u judgemental people!Seriously they are children learning. U r grownups that obviously need to grow up!I feel sorry for the kid that got stabd and sorry for the kid that did it!Bc unlike u people I know them both!Say what u want about ringling bc I have grown up fine and have high expectations and nt 2marry my cousin. I know none of u can throw the 1st stone!

The police Cheif had nothing to do with the fact no charges were filed, that call was make by the D.A.'s office Dinnis Gay don't blame the Police for it, he can only do what the D.A. will let him do.

Keep in mind of the area that your talking about, This could be a nice area but as in the past 17 yr's or so we have had no law enforcement at all, Teacher's and or coaches seeing 15 yr old girl's at the time and being swept under the rug by the sheriff's dept. Now first of all bringing a knife or any other instrument that could inflict harm on another student or teacher is against the law but I can bet you that more than half the boy's in the school carry pocket knive's this is a small country town, But to pull it out and use as a weapon is the sign's of a coward use your fist, Now dont think that I believe in fighting but at least you live another day to defend in what you believe in, It truly is sad that the incident happened but the showing of respect for your fellow human being begin's at home with mom and dad, And the school does not have enough teacher's to watch every student at all moment's of the day so think before you start blaming anyone. look in the mirror it starts ther.

What do you expect from a school that has had one of its coaches charged with assulting a park ranger and then for drinking in public. That's the way things are in these small towns and schools.

What is wrong with you people? That is ok to stab someone at school because you feel threatened. This same logic means that you think it was ok what happened at Columbine! You don't know either of these boys. All you have to base your opinions on is what our stupid police chief said. The one that claimed to be bullied is a pathological liar, who bought a pellet pistol to school and had a knife at a homecoming dance, that was taken from him. He also draws pictures of other students laying dead with bullet holes in them. He had threatened the other boy all day. The victim is a nice kid,not the bullying type.Ask students that were there what the real story was. The story you got was very biased against the victim. I don't really know what the childish comments about marrying first cousins and being mudcreekers has to do with anything. A young kid could have died in our town. This is not the time for rude comments from Ringling haters!!!!

Considering the fact that an incident happened last school year at the same school,it would be very nice to know what the school system intends to do about this "incident". Violence is escalating in this school system, see youtube.com "Ringling girls fight" which happened about a month before this incident and was posted to the site before the girls even made it to the office. As a concerned parent with children in this school system, what are the Ringling Schools going to do help better protect our children from bullying which has led to much worse scenarios. Will our children be safe there? Where are the teachers?

First of all there is no they in this situation. My son was one of the children who witnessed this incident. Where this Police Chief gets his information is beyond me had he read the reports written by these kids he would know that my son and another boy told the Cunningham kid not to hit the Aden boy. I do not blame the Aden boy for doing what he felt he had to do to parotect himself in my opinion he had every right to defend himself. If the principal had listened to him instead of walking him back to class earlier in the day when he went to the office to raport the bullying to him maybe this wouldn't have happened. As for my son he is upset about the whole situation he was friends with both boys, but he has been taught not to bully anyone.

"Police say no charges will be filed against the 12-year-old"...for STABBING another kid?....in SCHOOL? I guess if he had pulled out a pistol and shot the 14-year old, the story would have been the same? The law must be a little different in Oklahoma...

Al: the other boy had a KNIFE AT SCHOOL! Helllloo! Since when is it ok to bring weapons to school?

Posted by: Anonymous on Dec 21, 2008 at 08:28 PM
Wow! The student had a knife on school property - what's going to be done about that? Evidently "self-defense" makes it alright.

That just like a MUD CREEKER....

Being a bully is being a coward.

I think that its sad that are kids have to bring knives or any other kind of weapon to school to protect themselves. I can't stand it when people who think being a bully make you superior and a some kinda a person. If this was my son and he was being a bully I would so punished him for ingnorant actions.I hope that Ringling School system gets a more strict policy on the behavior matters within the school system this should go for all school systems througout our country.

Its a sad thing that there are bullies in the world. My son a few years back was being bullied by two kids two grades above him at Houston elememtary,he finally defened himself and beat them up.The principle lady called and told me she was sending my son home. She didnt believe my sons story of those two boys harassing him for months. After I defended my sons actions, she picked on him for the clothes he wore and accused of him of smarting off and sent him home one day.The worst thing is my son is really agreat person, but at a young age he discovered there are other bullies other than your peers. So please have some mercy for this young man who has probably been picked on severely by the other boy.Sometimes the school systems dont handle things as well as they should before the kids have to defend themselves.I hope that principle lady has retired with her poor judgement of my sons situation, which he still talks about today.

Something isn't right here. IF Aden was the aggressor then WHY isn't CHARGES being filed on Aden? If they had gotten to interview the Aden boy we would have been told by Aden that Cunningham bullied him non stop.

Posted by: al Location: ardmore on Dec 20, 2008 at 10:10 PM
The Ardmorite said the younger boy got suspended for the rest of the year. Now, if he stabbed the other boy in self defense, why is he being punished for protecting himself. He was suppose to be protected by the anti-bully law and wasn't. They need to suspend the boy that started it all, not the one who was only protecting himself. If my children were being attacked at school, they would have my full support to defend themselves. I am a firm beliver in protecting myself and my rights and I will do everything in my power to do so.

bullying

It's sad that this boy had to defend himself in such a way. He has probaly been tramatized for the rest of his life because of the reckless disregard of the sleezy bullies who were picking on him.

Posted by: Darren on Dec 20, 2008 at 12:45 PM
Well If it was self defense then thats fine because if someone ever attacks me and im in fear of my life then im going to do something drastic as well.........then again they should do a better job of checking kids and make sure they are not bringning weapon's of any kind to school

Where's the conversation about the one child having a knife in the first place???

Posted by: jd Location: bonham on Dec 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM
Why was the 12 year old allowed to enter into a school with a knife? This should have never happened inside a school.

Posted by: bob Location: Ringling on Dec 20, 2008 at 09:03 AM
And i guess we are just going to let him go just like we did when here pulled a gun last year at a football game.

Posted by: Amanda Location: Ringling on Dec 20, 2008 at 08:58 AM
That is not right 14 yr would never do something like that if that boy didnt start it. So i guess what has been going on all week is ok then, that boy kicking the 14 yrs old in the back and thing like that all week even ask the bus driver

Posted by: personal on Dec 20, 2008 at 08:25 AM
i think that is bad the teachers need to keep a closer watch on someone like that

Posted by: Red Location: Sherman on Dec 20, 2008 at 08:22 AM
A 12 yr old child can carry a knife to school in Oklahoma? Wow.

Posted by: Cat Location: Texas on Dec 20, 2008 at 07:37 AM
I don't know the whole story, and apparently KXII is not reporting the whole story, but the 12 year old should at least be reprimanded for even having a knife at school.

Posted by: Anonymous on Dec 20, 2008 at 12:19 AM
thats why people should learn to respect everyone in the school before one stabbing becomes a school shooting!

Posted by: Ardmoreite Location: Ardmore on Dec 19, 2008 at 11:32 PM
So if the kid killed the teenager, then I guess the police would turn that over to school officials too instead of the DA. There is no such thing as self-defense on school grounds, both boys should be in trouble and suspended, especially the one that was carrying a concealed weapon as in the knife on school ground. That's small town law enforcement for ya! I bet they they're all related somehow. The boy should be sitting in the juvenile detention center right now, any other child would be.
