RINGLING, Okla. -- The boy who was stabbed at Ringling Schools, in eastern Jefferson County, talks about his side of the story.
It started with a punch, and ended with one boy going to the hospital and another in the custody of a state psychiatrist.
"It just felt like he hit me in the side and then I know he stabbed me, but it just felt like a needle going in and then it just started gushing out blood, “ said 14 year-old Taylor Cunningham.
Cunningham says he was being threatened and teased all week by the 12-year old class mate who stabbed him.
Cunningham says the two boys ran into each other outside after their lunch period.
Ringling Police Chief, Jeremy Wilson, says that's when Cunningham threw the first punch and believes the 12-year-old who stabbed him, was acting in self defense.
"He never really started it, the other boy was pushing him which led up to him being fearful for his life and pulling the knife and stabbing the boy,” said Chief Jeremy Wilson, of Ringling Police.
Cunningham says the 12-year old boy who stabbed him had been taunting him all week, and that's why he punched the boy after lunch.
"He's been messing with me this whole week, and mouthing and stuff, and said that he was going to stab me," said Cunningham.
Chief Wilson says the boy has been seen by a state psychiatrist for three years, but would not say why.
As for Cunningham, he says he's been a good kid.
According to Chief Wilson, Cunningham may be expelled from school when he returns from Christmas break.
Police say the investigation is now being turned over to the school.
