RINGLING, Okla. -- The boy who was stabbed at Ringling Schools, in eastern Jefferson County, talks about his side of the story.

It started with a punch, and ended with one boy going to the hospital and another in the custody of a state psychiatrist.

"It just felt like he hit me in the side and then I know he stabbed me, but it just felt like a needle going in and then it just started gushing out blood, “ said 14 year-old Taylor Cunningham.

Cunningham says he was being threatened and teased all week by the 12-year old class mate who stabbed him.

Cunningham says the two boys ran into each other outside after their lunch period.

Ringling Police Chief, Jeremy Wilson, says that's when Cunningham threw the first punch and believes the 12-year-old who stabbed him, was acting in self defense.

"He never really started it, the other boy was pushing him which led up to him being fearful for his life and pulling the knife and stabbing the boy,” said Chief Jeremy Wilson, of Ringling Police.

Cunningham says the 12-year old boy who stabbed him had been taunting him all week, and that's why he punched the boy after lunch.

"He's been messing with me this whole week, and mouthing and stuff, and said that he was going to stab me," said Cunningham.

Chief Wilson says the boy has been seen by a state psychiatrist for three years, but would not say why.

As for Cunningham, he says he's been a good kid.
According to Chief Wilson, Cunningham may be expelled from school when he returns from Christmas break.

Police say the investigation is now being turned over to the school.

Obviously u ppl are ignorant! Ever think why children start bullying is bc of things like this? You so called grownups arguing over things you obvioulsy know nothing about! They are children! And to bash the teachers and school is so childish! I am not a "mudcreeker" although I come from ringling and my "family tree branches" are far from marrying eachother! Its ridiculous comments like this that make the world such an awful place! U expect any child to grow up any better after hearing the trash u ppl talk! The child that stabd the other boy is a very sweet child and I miss him! He has never been anything but nice and polite to me unlike the so called victim! I have watched these kids in class and they are awful. Not bc they are from ringling or family married eachother or anything to do with the school bt bc of ppl like u and ure negativity. Children learn from adults. What kind of example are yall putting off by sitting here all day mouthing? As if any of u could cast the 1st stone!

Ringling is a laugh, you people actually call yourselves "mudcreekers." Just because you live in a hicktown don't mean you gotta parade it!

First and foremost not all mudcreeker's are as dumb as several of you people would like to think, The people that you are talking about sit on the right side of the Mayor when you are facing the board, Enough said about that, The boy that did the stabbing is the son of the former police chief Jesse Aden so in his mind he could get away with murder probably and even with witnesses Jesse still could'nt find him, Now this is a nice little town with some good people we can't help the fact that you can't alway's control who moves here or marries into the community, Now mork or hater if you still have a problem come visit me and we will have a coke and maybe a smile, I dont know you tell me when we are done. It truly is a shame that with all that is going on in our world we still have the time to hate each other, Maybe we need to start bringing our kids up to know right from wrong needless of where you live, It is sad that it happened at our school but maybe it will wake people up...

As a parent of a child in the 7th grade at Rinling, I feel the story is a little turned around. First of all the victim is not a bully. I have known him since he was 4 years old. The other boy is always in trouble, he has had knives taken away from him on three occassions. Last year he brought a BB gun to school and led the kids in his class to believe it was real. He is not a meek, shy child like he was protrayed. He is always cussing at the kids and telling them he is going to kill them. The age difference is not exactly as big as they made it sound. They are in the same class. I think it is very childish of anyone who basically said he deserved it.We could have had to go to a funeral.Do you think his parents deserved that? What happened to no weapons at school.Boys get in fights in every school in the nation, not just Ringling.I just thank God no one was hurt bad.Mork and hater grow up I'm tired of people slamming our town for good and bad.I assume you must be from Healdton!!!

The young man who was stabbed may have learned a valuable lesson about picking on somebody your junior. As he can still breathe it was cheap for him. As far as having a knife who doesent carry one. And if not a knife how about pencils or scissors or rocks. come on

Why does a parent let their kid go on camera after something like this? Most at least hold out for Springer or Povich.

Anonymous in Ardmore: I don't know about Ringling, but most teachers that I know do not sit in the teacher's lounge and smoke and drink coffee! I could lose my job for leaving my students unsupervised.

So, what happens to the 12 year old?

Bullying in any form needs to be stopped and there should be "NO TOLERANCE" for it in our schools or our society. I do not believe the child in this story is truly the "victim". The other child finally reached his limit and fought back. Not that this should be condoned or accepted but who is protecting the meek in our school?

Posted by: Anonymous on Dec 21, 2008 at 10:37 AM
Should have reported it to school authorities instead of trying to bully the kid...you severely underestimated his reaction

Why was a knife at school?

Posted by: Mork Location: Ork on Dec 21, 2008 at 09:36 AM
The title on this story should be "When 1st cousins get married and have children."

Posted by: alan morrison Location: denison on Dec 21, 2008 at 04:47 AM
Oh ok expell a boy who couldnt deal with a bully and not do anything to a future murderer..Wake up people! Why would a 12 yr old evevn fathom carrying a knife to school geeez

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Ardmore on Dec 21, 2008 at 01:27 AM
Where are the school staff to watch our children when something like this is going. I guess they were all in the teachers' lounge having a smoke and drinking coffee I guess while a student was being assaulted with a dangerous weapon, by a crazed student!
