SHERMAN, TX -- Faith Church in Sherman had a protest Sunday. The protesters were holding up signs at the church right off of FM 1417.

There have been several protests over the past year of both former members and non-members accusing the church of physically and emotionally abusing members.

"The source of the protest is that this organization is mimicry of a true church following after gods own heart," said Jason Weiss, a protester.

Faith Church leaders could not be contacted for comment.

You know, Novy is a nephew of charles glass. For someone in preacher glass' family to publicly protest against him says a LOT. Such as: preacher glass is WRONG.

WHY IS REV. GLASS NO LONGER ASSOCIATED WITH THE PENTECOSTAL ASSOCIATION? LET'S GET THE UNTOLD STORY. ONE IS NOT STRIPPED FROM A CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION FOR NO REASON. WAS IT HIS DECISION FOR HIS FLOCK TO NO LONGER CONSIDER THEMSELVES PENTECOSTAL?

I love Faith Church. I love the Glass family, and I love the Estes family...all of them. All I can say is WOW!!!!

The protests of this church have never accomplished anything. Until someone goes to the authorities and presses charges for the abuse nothing will change. This controversial church has shown that the protests will not phase them. I appreciate the efforts to stop the abuse by this church but simple protests aren't going to do anything. If you have the proof you have to take it a step further. Otherwise you might as well stay at home.

GG, you must be living in a cave. What has KXII done to make the truth known by all? Have they done any investigation? No. Have they shown an extensive story? No. Have they aired any specific accusations? No. What they have done is boosted their website traffic by leading a newscast with a story so big, so important, that they gave it 30 seconds worth of unintelligible mumbling. And you sheep are thanking them and giving them credit? Before anyone gives channel 12 a Pulitzer, can we tap the breaks and wait for them to do a story first? You kind of need a story, not just a headline. I wish I had the time to jump up and down all day, point my finger and say 'meanie meanie meanie. I want you to go to church somewhere else, and I am going to hold my breath until you go where I want you to' Puh-lease!!!

Well done KXII. Someone once said, "you shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free". KXII is making the truth known to all. Thanks again.

I am not the one who posted as "Prissy." There is a "Prissy" inside Faith Church that must be posting. I think Novy and Kym are doing their best to get the truth out there and help anyone who has been abused by Faith Church leaders. They will of course be targeted by Faith Church because of it. Thanks, Novy, for not being afraid to take a stand against what you know is not right. Just wanted to clear that up. P.James

Thanks KXII for keeping this story alive. The folks at Faith Church are wolves in sheeps clothing. The fact that the Glasses' children and grandchildren have no contact w/them, speaks volumes. God bless all of the former members.

BLAH BLAH FAITH CHURCH THIS!!! BLAH BLAH FAITH CHURCH THAT!! You people need to get a life. I'm tired of this broken record that was played 30 years ago, and is now being played today. Put up or shut up is what I always say. Better yet, just SHUT UP!!! Keep up the wonderful church that you have Faith Church. There are very very few (maybe 10) in Sherman that think the way those idiots on that insignificant blog think. You still stand as a symbol of excellence in the community in my book!!!!

Prissy: Novy Glass is not the admin of the forum and that is not his email address nor did he initiate that address. You need to get your facts straight before you go running your mouth. Thanks KXII for running this story. I am not a member or former member but I have family that was tormented for over 30 years by these people. They were harrassed and emotionally and physically abused by Charles, Mary Jo and Beth Cernero. Thank God they finally had the sense to get out. I would love to see a whole investigative series done on this Church, would be very interesting if everyone would tell their stories. I believe them all because it has happened in my own family!!

Paul wrote, "Follow me as I follow Christ." If these people are not following Christ, don't follow. Find a church where they do follow Him. Now, you that are without sin, cast the first stone!! It is for us to tend to and restore the downtrodden and wounded ministering the true love of God to them and then pray for the perpetrators causing this treacherous evil. Do not render evil for evil, but rather pray for them! Anything less is to lower ourselves to their level. By this will they know you are truly His disciples in that you have love one toward another, not revenge or malice. Let God be their judge. While we might be right in our motive behind the protest, we might not be right in our actions. Do not be contentious. Kill evil with LOVE!!

i have lived a lot of years and never heard good , profesional, normal people tell these kind of stories about any other preacher. ever!! i know many of these exmembers and they know what they saw with there own eyes. just think about it. if you are looking for a new church and you have choice between a church with these kind of stories or one with a good rep. pick the onw without risk. even if only one of the stories is true, just don't risk it. sherman has some wonderful churches that do great work.

are the members being held hostage? Then this is wrong. Leave and let your peace return unto you. The Kingdom of Heaven is within. Read my words for a defense; Know my word; recite; recall; memorize my word; thus empowering you to say, as I did, DON'T YOU KNOW THAT IT IS WRITTEN?

Seems like this is a story generating a LOT of interest, so those commenting that there is no story are clearly mistaken. A good in-depth story is warranted; Clear up the rumors once and for all. Interview the church leaders and those alleging abuse. Rumors have swirled around the Glass's and this chruch for thirty years, why not put it all out there - both sides of the story. If the "abused" will come forward in a show of unity and tell their stories, maybe the truth will finally emerge. There has been a LOT of smoke over the last thirty years for there to be no fire...

This church originated on Harrison St. in Sherman. It was known as First Pentecostal Church under the leadership of Charles Glass. Due to all of the problems at the church Rev. Glass was stripped of his credentials from the UPC. If my memory serves me right, I believe the church was under the scrutiney of the FBI for allegations of abuse. You can check the archives at the public library for the news coverage of the problems at the church. Faith Church is the re-invented version of First Pentecostal Church that was on Harrison Street. Same church elders, same pastor (even though he is not sanctioned by UPC), several of the same members - new building. You can check out allegations by former members at http://faithchurch.informe.com/forum/

Wake up folks. If you are considering joining a church, stay away from those whose pastors names dominate its literature and advertising. Never, and I mane NEVER should the pastor be the star of the show.

Thank you KXII. This story needs to be told. Faith Church are experts at hiding the real truth. We need the news organizations to bring out the whole truth that has been hidden so long. There have been numerous families hurt by this cult. I was was there to witness a young man being shoved up against a brick wall by the pastor. What kind of man does this to young teens who are just trying to live for God? I was there to see multiple famlies and young teens influenced by the leadership to turn against each other. Yes there is musical talent, but the deep down truth needs to come out and I'm thankful KXII is willing to bring out the turth. Keep up the good work.

KXII great story and news! I can tell you Christmas time at this cult is never JOY JOY JOY but rather HELL on EARTH if you are in the prayer room deemed evil by these evildoers C&MJ. No normal person who has heard this news and the seen the posting on faithchurch.informe.com would dare enter the doors of this cult. It is not a place where God resides but rather evil destruction to human lives. Stay clear or you will pay with emotional and/or physical abuse. I'm so thankful for the news being finally reported again on this true evilness.

Posted by: DC Location: Van Alstyne on Dec 26, 2008 at 01:15 PM
Thank you KXII for continuing to air these protests as they are very well needed to prevent others from harm. C&MJ have physically abused, emotionally abused and separated families for all of their years in Sherman. They both should be behind bars for their evildoings. They have abused their current members and all former members and I'm so glad to see it making the news again to prevent others from pain and suffering. GREAT JOB KXII - keep up the good work and know that no former member is "jealous" of this cult. We are only telling the truth - something they don't like revealed. The truth sets people free and they don't like their current members hearing the truth because they are the 4th & 5th generations born into this environment and now being attacked with the same lies and they may leave because the truth is being revealed.

Posted by: Josephine Location: Sherman on Dec 26, 2008 at 01:04 PM
Thank you KXII for this story. Former members are reuniting after years of abuse and telling their stories and putting the puzzle together of how everyone was treated the same. This is newsworthy information that every citizen should be aware of and protect their children and the elderly. Visit faithchurch.informe.com to see personal stories of abuse and tormet at the hands of these cultists. Thanks again for great reporting!! Keep it up - citizens are becoming more and more informed!!

KXII - What are you doing here? Allowing this mess to be continually posted is why the news in Grayson County is always laughed upon; from the Democrat to your news station. This is an embarrassment to our community to have our local news station promoting this story, if you want to call it that. These people have attacked Faith Church (1st Pentecostal) for years. Personally I am tired or it. If there was something there then why do they have attendance at every service and every event? KXII your unprofessionalism is embarrassing and unfortunately expected of our local news.

well...all that matters is that everyone gets all goose bumpy when they go to church and hear the music...right? They don't know they are playing right into MJ and C's fantasy portrayal of the perfect Christmas they never had.Everyone Must play along or they are billed as the latest problem. Yeah...go and take part...enjoy all the trappings they are so proud of...it is sick, and you will become sick as you play into it, and start to believe that everyone else is poor and "country" and don't deserve to be around you and your new-found wonderful, charismatic, "rich" church family. ENJOY it while it lasts... cause there is a price on your head, my friend...and it whatever MJ and C thinks you and your family should pay at the time.

My youngest son had died 2 months before Christmas, my oldest son was married into this church... Less than a year after my son died this church engineered a confrontation (they do it very well) and then I had no contact with my son for 3 years. During that time my grandson was born and I never saw him till he was 3 years old. PEOPLE OF SHERMAN...this is not a good group of people

Charles was taken to religous court, by the United Pentecostal Church International in the 1970's. He had his Upc license taken away for abuse of his members and not following the upc bylaws. Mary Jo Glass was arrested in Garland on several charges including false identity and a number of other charges, for going after a former member who filled charges against her.So, if we look up computer records look that up. M.J.has a record. Faith church members repeat the same matra over and over.Charles is great, Charles is great. Look at his million dollar house behind the church he lives in. Check out his new caddy every year. While having a little over a hundred members. The form and all these people have a story. Don't listen to these robots on line. The truth won't go away.

I dare anyone to ask the leadership any question about money. Or better yet ask any member if they have ever seen a copy of the books or have any idea what the leadership makes. No one and I mean no one knows this information - not the treasurer - not the board members - not the members - The pastor writes his own checks. Most churches will allow you to see a copy of their yearly financial statement. Members are not even allowed to ask questions about the cost of anything at this church. Just ask any membeer of Faith Church if they have any idea what the pastor makes and see the answer they give back. --THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL--- THE BIBLE

As I go to sleep for the 26th Christmas without my family I am hoping next year Charles and Mary Jo Glass will not be around for the 27th Christmas without my family. They have influenced my kids and grandkids away from me, but I still have hope if they are dead next year that I might get to spend next Christmas with them. To those who criticize us who protest you have no idea what we have endured all these many years. We raised our kids to respect the ministry. They took our teachings and used it against us to convince our kids and grandkids that we are devils. We are not devils just parents and grandparents who want, wish and hope to spend our final days with our kids and grandkids. I sincerely pray that my kids will see Charles and Mary Jo Glass for what they really are next year. Please God open their eyes to the evil of this leadership so I can spend my final days with my family. All I ask is to have one Christmas before I pass from this world.

I can not understand why KXII would give any credence to a bunch of jealous people, who obviously are trying to use the local news as a means to get their misguided complaints out. I understood a little better when someone saw the cameraman high-five one of the protesters. What is really going on here? I think the religious establishment has always fought against the real Spirit of God, they crucified the Lord. It is not surprising that the protesters spokes person, Jason Weiss, is from some sort of Episcopal Church. Why are you allowing all this garbage to be posted? Wake up Channel 12, your broadcasting station is being used.

I had a chance to go the Candlelight service last night (which was not advertised on the T.V. or in the paper)and it was wonderful. There could have been no less than 600 or 700 people there, and Pastor Glass recognized new visitor family after new visitor family in the service. It was one of the warmest services I have ever been in my life.

After more then years of bad things that have been said about the leadership of this church why doesn't the leadership leave? If this church is really all about God then why wouldn't they leave for the good of christianity and God? I agree there is a lot of talent at this church and it should be a church of thousands with all that talent. Why do they have a building that will seat over 100 with only 150-200 members? It appears to me it's not all about God, but about whom they can impress and it's all about building up Pastor Glass's kingdom. I know many of the good people who attend Faith Church. They don't have to live according to the way Pastor Glass's teaches. I say fire this man and get someone in who is really all about glorify God and not Glrifying Glass.

You would think that if Faith Church was going to spread lies they would at least go to the forum and get the e-mail address correct. First of all Novy Glass is not the moderator and 2nd the e-mail address is formerchurchmembers@yahoo.com not formermembers, also the address for the arranged marriage e-mail address is arranged_marriage@yahoo.com not ihaveanarrangedmarriage. I am the person who created the formerchurchmembers@yahoo.com e-mail address. I'm not sure who created the arranged_marraige@yahoo.com - The truth is coming out and Faith Church doesn't like it. Thank God for the internet. God is using this tool to bring out all the things that have been hidden all these years. I'm Glad Novy Glass and his 2 daughters are taking a stand. Out of all the people on this earth that really know them it is their own blood. We have a whole host of witnesses to all the evil things that has been done by the leadership of this cult.

Novy Glass is indeed THE MODERATOR AND FOUNDER of the forum mentioned below for "healing". It is unfair to not give the man his due when he has truly spearheaded the forum and these protests from the beginning. If a grade school counselor in the Lewisville ISD is willing to put his name, profession, and reputation out in the open by leading protests and setting up blogs and forums, then someone has to take a long, hard look at what he's doing. I know that he also has set up email addresses such as www.formermembers@yahoo.com and www.ihaveanarrangedmarriage@yahoo.com.

No Convictions = No Convictions, huh? Only in the court of mans BLIND justice are you innocent until proven guilty. But proceeding under that primative notion, is being kicked out of the UPC proof of guilt? How about the testimony of a hundred people? Or does something only become real when it affects you? I can assure you that i would not have exposed myself to public ridicule over something so innocuous as some singing. There is FAR more to this story than can be expressed in 1000 characters of comments on KXII's forum. And there is even less room on a stupid sign. If anyone cares about this, beyond the monkey sphere of their life, read the forum. Interview ex-members. Interview current members. But if you've resigned yourself to the complacency of appearances, then your world will only ever have the appearance of understanding but the reality of ignorance.

Do they show Gods love to others? what do they do for God or the community? they charge the poor to come to their fall festival.do they help anyone?the homeless the crisis center the poor? SURE they put on the performance's of their life's because THE HEAT IS ON. and they know it.. they are losing members which means they are losing money.. and the person who wrote about jason having a record " he who is without sin let him cast the first stone"

Bishop myers did not start the protest nor does it have anything to do with his church. he joined because he has abused family members in this cult. Novy Glass is related to Charles Glass and he has joined the protest because like Charles Glasses daughters could not stand watching the abuse any longer. He is a good man who knows the fake church is evil and needs to be stopped. The cult members are pointing fingers at the wrong people if they think Bishop Myer, Jason Weiss, and Novy Glass have spearheaded the forum and the protests. Far from it. They just want to try and help their family members involved in the cult. Former abused members are the founders of the forum and the forum has been a great place for many to heal. Former members do want the Glasses to leave but are concerned about the cult members still going to FC. It is a place of manipulative abuse. The leaders are greedy and evil and were kicked out of the Pentacostal affiliation. That in itselfs says alot.

Hey hello everyone, That's the million dollar question, isn't it? If all of this stuff happened, why has there been not one, not one conviction? Common sense here. I don't know Ken Myers OR Jason Weiss. I assume they really think what they are doing is good. They had better be right, or they will be having a lot of explaining to do some day. Folks, if the FC'ers want to go to that church, and the community wants to go hear them sing, then can we not let them do so in peace? Anybody can put up a stupid board with accusations. No convictions = No convictions

Posted by: CONNECTION?? on Dec 23, 2008 at 04:50 PM
Kenneth Myers and his members were not the only protestors out there. I know that Novis "Novy" Leroy Glass, from The Colony, has been shoulder to shoulder with them in these protests as well (including the last one that KXII covered). Does anyone know why a childrens Counselor at Stewart's Creek Elemetary in Lewisville comes up here to protest a church or what he has in common with Kenneth Myers?

Posted by: JasonWeiss Location: Sherman on Dec 23, 2008 at 04:39 PM
Satan would be pretty stupid if he baited us w/ unatractive junk. Bishop Ken can defend himself if he thinks he needs to, but i don't see anyone leaving FC and going to CCC. Pentecostals are from Mars, and Episcopals are from Venus. Happily we all revolve around the same Son, but that would be a very jolting transition all at once. Technically I guess I am recruiting all current FC members, and any potential members, to go to ANY other church.

The story that Ch. 12 and no one else is telling is that there are a large group of former members of Faith Church who say they were victims of emotional, mental and - in some instances - physical abuse - at the hands of the church's leadership and other members. The pastor and his wife also are accused of ordering members to end contact with family outside of the church and promoting arranged marriages. There is an abnormal number of members of the church who marry one another and it's getting to the point where they're all practically related to one another. Some of these former members making the accusations still have family inside the church and are afraid to go to the authorities for fear it will create even more harm to their relationships. Across this area, there are grandparents who haven't seen grandchildren in years ... brothers and sisters who haven't seen other siblings or parents in years ... and marriages that have crumbled because of this church. That's the real story.

Posted by: Judge on Dec 23, 2008 at 02:38 PM
Reverand Glass' time is nearing. He will not be able to hide from the Almighty. He will be judged. He will pay. Each and every tortured member can rejoice in knowing that Glass will get his due.

I've done plenty of other bad stuff too. I'd borrow and convey God's complete list of my sins, but He threw it away with yours and everyone elses list. Nevertheless; i am an admittidely terrible person, so no one should take my word for anything. Google: FaithChurch. informe. and decide for yourself. You would have to had been in a coma the past few decades to not have heard the smoke from this fire. Some refuse to see it. Some can't see it. Some think the fire was put out. Some can smell it, but can't see where the fire is coming from. Ignore it, and it will burn you. Chant, "the roof, the roof, the roof is on fire...", and it will come crashing down on your head. And fortunately, firemen don't have to have had a spotless past.

You people crack me up. You act like someone was holding a gun to your head to make you attend this church. It's not hard- just don't go any more. Jesus Christ. Whoops.

Hey Get A Life, their church WAS taken from them, by the United Penecostal what-ever-you-call-it. Well, maybe not the church building, but the Penecostal name can't be used, Glass was kicked OUT!!!

Since I was born into First Pentecostal Church (now Faith Church) I too went to many cantatas and felt the "presence of the lord." I later realized this was because I believed in God and his power. The things done by this "church" are too large for one to grasp unless you have experienced it yourself. I have cousins, aunts, uncles, and parents I have no seen in YEARS because of the evil. Since the protests and the forum few have seen the light and we have talked for the first time. GO PROTESTERS GO! Your fight is not in vain!

Bishop Kenneth Myers of Christ Church Cathedral: Thank you for standing when nobody else will. All of the clergy in this area know. One of them is willing to protest. Your efforts have not gone un-noticed by those of us who are sickened by the things we have seen from that church. Hopefully your presence will allow them to take the good out of the Cantata....and question it just enough to go home to a church family that is based on the true Word.

You protestors are embarassing to the community, and bishop kenneth myers you should be expelled from any godly thing, you don't even deserve to have your name capitalized. I am so embarrassed for you protestors

If you think everything is fine and great with this church--read the forum. They draw people in with cantata. They don't care about people of little means--only if they have money or well known name. Have the "inner circle" explain why the Glass' daughters and grandchildren have NOTHING to do with them. Have them explain how they beat the devil out of people. Have them explain the death of Richard Morgan. Then judge for yourself--

Well, I don't have a dog in this fight. Never been to the place, don't know them personally, nor do I know any of the picketers. But a couple of things seem obvious to me. Looking at the 'who stands to gain' question, on one hand we have a church who is accused of things by people who don't even go there. And staunchly defended by those who do. I don't see how they are benefitting from what is being said about them. We have a local minister on the news. I don't know if his church is struggling or not, but before yesterday, I had never even heard of him or his church. So now he has gotten noticed. I see a TV station who is getting more traffic to their website than they can believe. Yet all they did was run a headline with basically no story. Either there is a story and they were negligent in not investigating it, or they know there's no story but want the web traffic because they do sell ads here. Like always follow the money. I am no longer neutral. GO FAITH CHURCH!

People go to a cantada and decide a church is great. Sounds like members are posting in defense of the story. On the other hand, I'll bet David Koresh's followers had nothing but good things to say about him. He was kind, generous, gave a good greeting, let them leave feeling better, treated them with kindness and respect and told them that anyone with a different opinion was persecuting them. Is that what makes a good church or a social club or a cult?

Posted by: Susan Location: Sherman on Dec 22, 2008 at 10:51 PM
I just know Faith ( fake) Church members must be getting sore fingers after writing all these posts as instructed by their so called "pastor,"

Faith church is a disgrace to all humanity. If you are a member listen up....get some self esteem and do not let people pick money and emotions from you like vultures. This place is merely a shell of a church that preys upon the weak. It is sad to see all the somewhat normal members of the area getting sucked in on empty promises while the leader is blatenly sucking them dry monetarily and spiritually. I would like to challenge Mr. Glass to one round in the ring. He can't bring his snakes though. I don't like snakes.

Posted by: Janis Location: Bonham on Dec 22, 2008 at 09:19 PM
I have been to several Cantata's over the years they are good but the place is full of evil. When the main concern of the pastors daughters is how to keep the pastor grandparents away from there children causes me concern. The son-in-law is killed and Bro. Glass tells the congregation he was asked to preach the funeral yet none of "them" even set with the family!!!! OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE. Sexual perversion, arranged marriages, beatings, lesbian behavior...where is this condoned in the Bible?? They do nothing for this community. When called to help with the bus crash victims this year they refused. I believe I can find another Christmas pagent with a little more class.

CULT - Notice that most of the positive reviews below about the Cantata's sound adoring of the leader, Glass, - that is how you know that they were written by insiders - visitors don't fawn over a leader. THIS PLACE IS A CULT

Thank you so much for airing this story. I'm a former member and I can tell you my siblings and I were removed from our house by Charles & Mary Jo and separated from our mother and father for several years because Charles and Mary Jo deemed them "Evil" as a mother now, I'm so blessed to know the TRUTH of the evilness that I endured as a child and know that my children WILL NEVER EXPERIENCE such physical and emotional abuse as I witnessed at the FPC (know Faith Church cult) in Sherman. I left many, many years ago with great faith in God and he has helped me heal from years of abuse. It is my hope and prayer that any remaining innocent victims are freed from the hold of these evildoers by these intervention. May God bless each and everyone of you who have protested these evil doers in the name of religion and continue to warn the citizens of Sherman - THIS IS NOT A SAFE PLACE FOR CHILDREN or ELDERLY ADULTS.

God help you Faith Church leaders...you have continued to just smile, wave to the world and portray those who have been abused by you as sick people that are trouble-makers. That is what abusers do...they will never own up to what they do, and it takes a brave person to step forward and speak the truth. You are so proud to think that you are fooling innocent souls with the talent of your church and your smooth smiles. It is all a GAME to you that you want to the world to think you are winning, so the spiritual terror that you wage on families in secret is not exposed. May God have mercy on your souls. You WILL eventually have to answer for what you have done to soo many. All the wonderful words and praise from others will not help you then.

Thanks KXII for covering this story. i have known people who were in that cult for years and recently got out, the stories they have to tell are horrible. You should do an in depth story on this Church and Rev and Mrs. Glass. We have our own little Jim Jones going on here!

Bravo, "Bishop Kenneth Myers" of Christ Church Cathedral!

Posted by: Christian Location: sherman on Dec 22, 2008 at 06:17 PM
I do realize that 1979 was 30 years ago. I also realize that this demonic stronghold has been present for 50 years now. I do not hate anyone, even Mr. and Mrs. Glass. Even after all the horrible things that have happened. I do not think that the protestors are asking them to "give up their church" just wanting to raise awareness that something is not right there. Maybe even let one of the members see that they can leave.

Posted by: Get your facts straight Location: Sherman on Dec 22, 2008 at 06:14 PM
Until you have walked in former members shoes...do not judge. They have been doing this for years and until someone exposes them for what they are, they will continue to do it. Read articles from the past, Texas Monthly in 1979. People that abuse and brainwash do not change, just like pedophiles. Charles Glass has no governing board over him, he was disfellowshiped for conduct unbecoming a minister, they don't kick you out of organizations and governing boards because you are doing the right thing, he is doing the right thing for HIMSELF. Scamming people out of their money, telling them the only way to heaven is thru his chuch, I have heard him say that with my own ears!! Think about it!

Posted by: Joseph Location: Sherman on Dec 22, 2008 at 05:59 PM
Let's move on. So you don't know for sure if that is the same Jason. Don't you think you should know for sure before you go to posting things saying it is him? Trust me Faith Church has in no way kept their mouth shut. Just go to the forum and you can pick out who belongs to the cult. Ask yourself how many times have you heard of Faith Church helping out in a crisis or helping the poor and homeless? Sure they are very nice to visitors again check out the forum and you will see why.

If I am able, I try to get out and come to at least one cantata every year b/c they are so wonderful. The quality of the music and the true feeling of Christmas takes you by suprise. It's like going to the Meyerson in Dallas, except you don't leave the Meyerson feeling blessed and spiritually uplifted. As blessed as I was, it angered and grieved me deeply to see people protesting such a wonderful celebration at such a wonderful church. I can assure you that it did not take away one thing I received in the performance, and I will be at every one of them from now on.

Posted by: Re: Curious on Dec 22, 2008 at 05:30 PM
That was indeed Bishop Kenneth Myers of Christ Church Cathedral. He has been a part of every one of those protests. Also, Jason Weiss, the protestor with the criminal record for making alcohol available to minors, is a member of Bishop Myers' church. Can't wrap my mind around a pastor protesting another church much less encouraging the members of his congregation to do so. Does anyone know if the other protestors are members of his church as well?

Posted by: Get A Life on Dec 22, 2008 at 05:20 PM
Hey Christian, Do you realize that 1979 was almost 30 years ago? Were there any convictions, or is the whole legal system on the take from this group of highly influential and crazy worshippers? Can't believe they won't give up their church just because you guys tell them to!!! Sorry to hear about your family, but I have my own family members who go there. And I talk to them all the time. But then again I am not all about hatred and name calling. Thank the LORD.

Posted by: LetsMoveOn on Dec 22, 2008 at 05:12 PM
If you search the Grayson County page, you'll see that a Jason Weiss gave liquor to a minor, among other offenses. Not sure if it's the same guy, but even if it was, if he has repented and asked for forgiveness, we owe it to him, says God. But honestly, he should be ashamed of himself for protesting a celebration of the birth of the Lord. Especially when I don't even think he has ever even visited the church. What if someone was going to attend, might have been touched and eventually saved, but they didn't go because of the protestors. Then who will have to answer for that lost soul? Yeah, big heros.

Jason Weiss is not looking for air time. He is a good man. To all the skeptics, there were charges filed agains this church in 1979. A lot of people think things have changed. They have not. I have not seen or spoken to my family that attend that church in years.

Posted by: Sherman resident Location: Sherman on Dec 22, 2008 at 04:29 PM
I went to the cantata because of the protestors, and I also visited because of them, I wanted to see what it was all about. It's wonderful and I felt His wonderful presence! I admire them for not lashing back at all that has been done to them, but for turning the other cheek. It speaks to their character and to the character of those casting stones.

Posted by: Joseph Location: Sherman on Dec 22, 2008 at 04:29 PM
This has been going on for years. Take a look at the old papers and check the forum for pictures and news clippings. It is still going on today. I also did a goggle on Jason Weiss and did not find that. Would you please put the link on here where you found that? Thanks.

When watching this news story, I noticed that one of the protestors holding a sign was Kenneth Myers, Bishop of Christ Church Cathedral here in Sherman. Does anyone know anything about that?

Posted by: Dave Location: Denison on Dec 22, 2008 at 04:28 PM
It sure seems like we're all getting a little tired of the rumor mill, doesn't it? I'll bet you anything that if every protestor wanted to attend a service at that church, they'd be treated with kindness and respect.

Posted by: Sherman Resident on Dec 22, 2008 at 03:24 PM
I have gone to school and worked with several people from Faith Church all of my life. I go to every cantata or musical that I can year after year without fail b/c of that very reason. Rev. Glass and Mrs. Glass have built one of the finest churches I have ever seen and they have founded it on Godly truth and love. You would have to be bitterly cold on the inside to not FEEL that when you go to any one of their performances or services. I have never been made to feel more welcome any where than I have at Faith Church.

Posted by: Shawn on Dec 22, 2008 at 02:06 PM
I've been to many of the cantata's at Faith Church and have always left feeling better than when I came. Evil doesn't make you feel like that! The love and kindness you can feel from total strangers there is amazing!

I have went to two musicals at this church. Have not seen or felt any bad vibes while there. I don't know any of the details other than what has been on the news. Would like to know more if it isn't rumors or hearsay. I and my family were planning to go to the Christmas cantata this year but was afraid of what has been in the news about this church. I have been in church all my life and you would think that I could sense a bad feeling from the people.

Posted by: Tired of it Location: Sherman on Dec 22, 2008 at 02:01 PM
Hey Just Watching, Lots of things look bad when someone else tells you they're bad. Why don't you folks who are just going on what someone else said take into consideration when someone else says something good about it? The people I know who go to church there are Godly, happy and have shown a willingness to turn the other cheek. Some of their cars have been egged. Anyone hear of one of them retaliating? With all the problems in our world, all you guys can find to protest is a congregation who chooses to worship God their way? I mean, they still have the right to their own choices, don't they? But do you really have the right to picket where someone chooses to worship? Honestly, to protest a cantata celebrating the birth of the Lord? Sherman, how much clearer does it need to be made for you to see who the real bad guys are here?

I have attended several contata's in the past and have always left with a good feeling. Each time the contata seems to get better and better and this year was the best ever. I don't understand the personal attacks on the church or Pastor Glasss. Pastor Glass has always been warm and caring towards everyone. Each time that I have attended the contata's, the members have been inviting and warm and the receptions are exceptional. I don't think the feeling that I have left with from being at one of their contata's can be fabricated or made up. The warmth and kindness is genuine and real.

I have know the members of Faith Church for years they are some of the nicest people I have ever met. I did a google search on the man (Jason Weiss) interviewed, to get a basis for the story, and he has a criminal record. Not a good comparison to the individuals I know from Faith Church.

I was at the musical last night, and I am not a member of that church, and that was one of the best christmas musicals I have ever seen. The singing, the music, the drama. Everything was top shelf. Everyone I spoke to was warm and friendly. I'm in sales so I can tell when someone is being fake and trying to snow me. These people were genuine. On another note, I've never met a more pleasant person than Reverend Glass. I had a short opportunity to visit with him, and he is just wonderful. I was introduced to his wife as well, and all I can say about them both is that they are 2 of the most classy people I have ever met.

Posted by: Just Watching Location: Sherman on Dec 22, 2008 at 12:59 PM
Disbelief - I don't see the protest as mocking anyone. It is just people vocally warning others of what they perceive as a real danger and a potential danger for those who are drawn by the show. Lots of things look good from a distance or the outside. Things have probably improved for the better inside just because of this exposure. The inner circle seems to stay intact though. They always have put on one of the best shows in town.

I attended the performance last night at Faith Church, and frankly I was blown away by the talent that is in that church. Besides that, there was such a sweet, warm feeling that I felt throughout the entire performance. I thought pastor Glass gave a wonderful welcome to the audience, and everyone there was genuinely nice and warm. As far as I'm concerned, God and evil cannot occupy the same place, and what I felt last night at Faith Church was definitely NOT evil.

I had a chance to attend the cantata on Sunday and it was an unbelievable. The music and the warmth of the people is not something you could possibly be prepared for. The church itself was amazing, but the people there take it to another level. Pastor Glass has done an amazing job with these cantatas and his church.

I don't think the issue is giving people the right to worship the way that they want to but rather if they are treating people wrong(abusing) then how is that right?

Posted by: Sherman Resident Location: Sherman on Dec 22, 2008 at 09:53 AM
We do allow people to worship how, where or what they want. The thing that is being protested is the abuse by the members of this church towards other members. Maybe they need to let people worship in their own way. And a note to everyone.... There are some people from the Sheriff's Office that belong to this church and insurance salespeople. It just goes to show that you better think twice about who you trust.

Posted by: Skeptic Location: Sherman on Dec 22, 2008 at 09:53 AM
I have attended the performances there for years, and they are fantastic. I also know several members of the church, and you'll not find a better group of people. It seems to me like the Weisses of the world have found a forum to get a little on-air face time, and that's all. If any of their charges were true, there would have been investigations conducted, charges brought, convictions sought and jail time given. I actually met a protestor a few weeks back. When I asked him what he knew, it was a lot of 'I heard this, and someone said that'. Got proof of anything? File charges. Otherweiss, you're just making fools of yourselves.

I attend this evenings performance of their chirstmas cantata and as a non member of their congreation it was an AMAZING retelling of the birth of our Savior. What evidence is there for these protesters to make a case at all?? I actually was in disbelief that some people (the protesters) would mock others for worshipping in their own way. Allow men the privilege to worship how where or what they may.

How much is truth and how much is rumor? Please take that into consideration before judging. I'm one of the most skeptical and cautious when I enter a new church. Have been visiting for awhile, and I haven't seen nor heard anything happen here that even remotely resembles the rumors. Before judging and protesting, do your research, listen to BOTH sides, seek truth, get to know the people who attend as well. Gather all that you can from both sides, and then make up your mind.
