TISHOMINGO, OK ―A fire over the weekend burned a local church to the ground. The St. Anthony Catholic Church in Tishomingo went up in flames early Sunday morning.
Officials now say the cause of the fire, which started in the entrance and the bell tower, may have been electrical.
Firefighters risked their own welfare to fight the flames early Sunday morning.
"One firefighter was injured on scene. A tree limb fell off a tree and hit him in the arm. He was treated on scene. Nothing was broken. He’s ok," Taron Gilpin of the Tishomingo Fire Department says.
The church building is a complete loss.
