FANNIN COUNTY, Tex. ― Bonham Fire Chief Bill Palya says TX-DOT plans to reenact a Christmas morning accident in Leonard involving an ambulance that killed three people to find out why the accident happened.

A Shreveport, Louisiana, woman and her twin sons were killed in the accident Christmas morning around 6:00 a.m. in the Leonard/Trenton area. Authorities tell us a Bonham ambulance, headed North on FM 981 did not see a Chevy Malibu headed North on Highway 69, and pulled out in front of it.

The Malibu hit the ambulance. The impact sent both vehicles off the road, flipping the ambulance on its side, sending the Malibu crashing through a fence, killing the driver and her twin sons.

59 year-old Pamela K. Touart, and her sons 29 year-old Cameron Wayne Boudreau and Kipp Leonard Boudreau, all of Shreveport, Louisiana, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Payla says this tragic accident has left its mark on the family of the deceased and the ambulance driver and passenger.

"It’s devastating not just to the men involved and not just to the family, but to this department as well the men here are grieving because they feel it could have been them," Payla says.

Payla says both men in the ambulance suffered minor injuries and that they are offering critical stress debriefing for both firefighters.

TX-DOT will reenact the accident in the next two weeks.

I was sitting here reading the postings from the last several months and to be honest I was floored by the all insults. These are three lives were talking about... it goes without saying, they will be missed greatly by their loved ones and those lives they touched. Let the men in uniform do their job in figuring out what exactly happened and if punishment is deserved. During the course of this blame game has anyone stopped to think about who's reading this? How the family of the lost might be celebrating and/or lack there of during this and every holiday there after? Stop and pray... reach out and say that your sorry for their loss.

I want to first send out my prayres for both parties involved in the terrible accident. As a former FF/EMT-P for the Bonham FD, I can ensure you that this dept has some of the best and most highly trained personell available. I myself have personally rode with the said driver and never once, both emergency and non, did he ever make a mistake that made me feel in threat of mine or someone elses life while operating an emergeny vehicle. This is truly an accident and it is unfortunate that the parties had to pay the price with their life. I know it is easy for those who are not in the profession to comment how easy our job is but, I would like to see you have to live with a situation like this or many of the other stressful situations that we are placed in on a daily basis. Mr. X, I supose that you feel that if you were on the way to work and caused an accident, that you should be automatically fired from your job and taken to prision? GIVE ME A BREAK! God bless all involved!

I want all to know that pamela was and always will be the most wonderful, beautiful and caring person in the world. She was my wife and best friend and kipp and cameron were two of the best kids and loved their fammily deeply. I know that pam was a careful driver and would never put her sons in harms way. I found out what happen on 1-5-09 and fell to my knees when i heard the news. She loved life, her family and God and I know that she and my two sons are in heaven. As for those who like to think they know it all because they have nothing else better to do with there lives, remember that if you judge others, you to will be judge by GOD. I will miss the only women I will ever love and the love that I had with my sons. My prayers and deepest love will be with the family always.

Fireman's wife, I have great respect for EMT's firefighters etc, but please get real. It is a profession, they get paid, they don't do it just for love. How many times have I heard that we need to give these folks a raise, or we'll lose them to cities further to the south that pay more. These folks are admirable, dedicated public servants. They are not saints.

To Bill Location: Southmayd on Jan 3, 2009 at 01:38 PM ... Please understand what I was saying before you start calling names and making assumptions I never said you wouldn't have to pay for your mistakes ... the whole reason I posted is to get people to quit pointing fingers and arguing with each other about who was in the wrong! But people like you just have to to judge somebody! As I said before please pray for both parties ... and GOD HAS A PLAN ... EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON ... REMEMBER THAT BILL!!!!

Mr. X-it would appear that you have a personal issue with Chief Palya and you have decided to use this blog as a place to spew forth your hate. The things you have said are hurtful and uncalled for. As for the retired Dallas FF-but by the grace of God that you have never been involved in an accident on or off duty. You of all people should understand how your brothers feel when this happens. I just wonder how much personal interest you have in there being a private EMS service in Fannin County to even suggest such. This was an accident and as the wife of a firefighter and EMT, my heart goes out to all involved. I have seen first hand the devastation that a LOL death causes. You worry that your husband might die in a fire but you never expect to get a call that they were injured or died in an auto accident. The men & women who serve us all in public duty (fire & law enforcement) lay their lives down for us EVERYDAY & never ask for anything in return. They don't fo it for money, it's love

I came to this website to read the news on this accident. When I read some of these comments I was sick at my stomach. You could atleast save your sick comments for the morning coffee shop, not a public website. Did you ever think that the ambulance crew or the family of the deceased would read this. It is pretty easy to set behind the keyboard and play the blame game. Also for retired fire medic who posted Dec. 26. How dare you bring that accident up when you do not know the facts. A retired firefighter is the last person I would expect to bring up a lost firefighter.

To anon. amb. driver Location: bonham on Jan 3, 2009 at 05:19 PM: I hope you are now a FORMER ambulance driver! You may have never killed anyone while driving, but you HAVE made mistakes...maybe you didn't get the IV in the right place, maybe you couldn't get the trach in right, etc...my point is: YOU HAVE MADE MISTAKES! If you think you HAVEN'T, please call me and so I can witness you walking on water! If you DO work for BFD, I sure hope they find out which "brother" is stabbing them in the back! And good luck with your co-workers who DON'T trust you anymore.

former driver my ohh my.. when ur actions cause the death of another out of negligence. Its called manslaughter.. Seat belts or not he caused that accident by pulling out in front of another vehicle and nooo his lights were not on.. since he wasnt transporting anyone. The ambulance caused the death of those people and that emt needs 20 yrs in prison and his certifications stripped.. Thats called justice.. I dont care what ambulance u drove .. You abide by the law and proceed with due regard and caution just like anyone else..in fact u need to proceed with more caution than the other drivers since u are responsible for the crew and others as well

Posted by: Bill Location: Southmayd on Jan 3, 2009 at 01:38 PM
Rachel, what an idiot statement,God gave earth to man, remember that, so yea we can make mistakes, and yea we have to pay for those mistakes,God had nothing to do with this accident.

I would like to say that a lot of the comments below are very hurtful, some are uplifting but most are unnecessary. For the record, Pam was wearing her seat belt and not she was not speeding. She is a very careful driver. No, Kipp & Cameron didn't have their seat bealts on but that didn't help Pam did it? On that note accidents can happen to anyone and it does not make the pain go away when we point fingers at who's fault it is. The EMS driver will have to live w/ this for the rest of his life, he shouldn't have to suffer any more by losing his job or going to prison. Why make his family suffer more for something that can not be changed. Our family is grieving and I pray that Pam's daughter doesn't see some of these comments because they would absolutly break her heart! The Lord does things for a reason, they are in a better place and we should remember that and not who's fault it is!

Did you read K's comment: Posted by: K Location: Southmayd on Jan 2, 2009 at 03:42 PM Has anybody ever considered that this lady may not have been speeding? Has anybody ever thought that maybe the speedlimit for this road is well over what it should be? You take a top heavy item and hit it at 70mph, what do you think is going to happen...its gonna tip over. This ACCIDENT happened around 6am, the sun is just starting to come out and conditions at this time had been foggy at that time of the morning, They young man probably did not see the car. Reguardless, SEVERAL lives have been changed from this terrible event. May God Bless all involved and give them strength to overcome this tragic event. Hopefully when Fannin county "re enacts" this accident they will consider lowering the speed limit. i agree with you "K" very much so. USA person: you make sherman look uneducated.

right is right the ambulance still pulled infront of the car.if you caint see a car with headlights on at early morning.do you really want them working on you in the ambulance. #

Posted by: Anonymous on Jan 2, 2009 at 05:30 PM
K, it doesn't matter if they lower the speed limit to 55 or 65 people are still going to drive way over the speed limit which this lady was going way too fast anyhow

Angelica, You obvisouly no nothing, this ambulance was stopped at a stop sign and he did not see the car coming and pulled out in front of her, she knocked this ambulance over it rolled, now anyone with common sense would know that this woman was going way over the speed limitand she would not have hit this ambulance so hard that it would have rolled over on its side.

Posted by: concerned citizen #2 on Dec 31, 2008 at 06:33 PM
everyone keeps saying it was an accident.ok it was but next time a non emergency driver has an accident and someone dies.Lets over look that time too.I have personally watched bonham ambulances drive irratically at times. They volunteered for those jobs no one made them take them .Their jobs are no more important than the three whose lifes were lost period.Police officer shoot the wrong person they loose their job the bonham driver no exception.

To Rachel: Yes and AMEN! May HE give all involved peace, strength and understanding.

Posted by: Rachel Location: Denison on Dec 30, 2008 at 08:23 PM
This was all in God's hands, it has nothing to do with how fast they were going, if they had their seat belts on, or who had the right of way! When God says it's time to come home, it's your time! God has a plan! Everything happens for a reason! It doesn't make it any easier for either side, the family still lost their loved ones, and the ems will have to relive this everyday of their lives! Please quit pointing fingers and offer up your prayers for both parties! Thank you to EMS for dedicating your lives to help others, and you will be in my prayers! To the family I am truly sorry for your loss, your family will be in my prayers!

This was simply a tragic ACCIDENT. The family which has lost 3 of its members suffered an unimagineable loss, and there is nothing at this point that can make that any different. The man who was driving the ambulance will never be the same either. All of the pictures we have been shown of this accident were made during the daylight. However, I believe the story says the accident happened around 6:00 a.m. If that is the case, it should also be taken into consideration that it was still dark (sunrise has been coming about 7:20 a.m). Also, I did not have to work Christmas Day so I am not sure about the other conditions, but I know that last week there were a few early mornings (& some afternoons) that were so foggy that one could not see very far in any direction. As far as the speed limit goes, do you all want to run the speed limits back to 35 mph so that we can all be "safe?" Could this have been avoided? The answer is probably "Yes;" hence that is why they are called ACCIDENTS.

Posted by: Former Driver Location: Sherman on Dec 30, 2008 at 03:34 PM
Has any of you people bothered to ask if this ambulance still had their lights on? Granted they were leaving a scene but dont always remember to turn off the lights. You people want to criticize this young mans driving skills, Have you ever had to drive an ambulance? Its not as easy as it sounds. For a small car to have hit the ambulance and cause something that big to roll over, then it had some good momentum behind it. Whether it be the driver speeding or the speed limit a little more than it needs to be for that road. As you cross into the Texas state line it tells you its the law to wear your seatbelt. Had they have followed the law then the outcome could have been differnt. Its the drivers responsibility to assure that their passengers are secure. To say that this young EMT should be sent to prison or have his certs stripped is extreme. It was an accident. How many of you commenting people know the intersection where this happened? IS there hills, how is the visibility? ck it out.

Posted by: Former Driver Location: Sherman on Dec 30, 2008 at 03:21 PM
volunteer_firefighter, How can you say that at a time like this "I have made mistakes but I havnt killed anybody" If you are a volunteer FF then you KNOW what these EMTs are going through, You should KNOW what it takes to drive these rigs. It could have very easily been you.

Posted by: Texas Mom on Dec 30, 2008 at 06:46 AM

The prayers of my family go out to the family of the 3 victims. They also go out to the Bonham EMS. I grew up with a FF/Medic father and I know the tole it takes on them to do this kind of work. I am in the medical field myself and I have also done this kind of work, so please think before you comment because the men and women who do this for a living put their lives on the line every shift. One of these days Mr. X, you might need my dad or someone like him. So to all FF/EMS THANK YOU for what you do for me, guys at Bonham please stay safe.

Angelica, don't tell me you have ever almost or have pulled in front of another car and not see it coming, I have and everyone else, it was an accident, there is no telling how fast the lady was going which no one in that car was wearing a seat belt!! NO they did not have the right of way you people on here need to wake up and stop posting stuff that you don't even know about

Posted by: Cyndee Location: Texas on Dec 29, 2008 at 05:47 PM
Someone needs to get their story straight either the driver saw the Chevy or he did'nt..Bonham ambulance, headed North on FM 981 did not see a Chevy Malibu headed North on Highway 69, and pulled out in front of it. KXII news said he did not see it ?

Posted by: SA Friend Location: San Antonio on Dec 29, 2008 at 03:08 PM
You inconsiderate a** holes talking about emergency vehile right of ways. The EMS was leaving a call. They were heading back to the fire station. NO EMERGENCY!!! NO FLASHING LIGHTS!!! NO SIRENS!!! The vehicle was just turning onto the road. They did not have the right of way. Get your facts. If you're too stupid to find it yourself her it is. http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/ftp/forms/DLhandbook.pdf (page 4-6) Check your facts. The only time you yield is when the vehicle has flashing lights and/or siren sounding. Cameron, you are missed by all. The family couch misses you. I would have loved to have know Kipp and mom better. Until we are reunited again.

I agree with this person: Posted by: concerned citizen Location: bonham on Dec 26, 2008 at 06:50 PM Trying to blame the dead for driving to fast isn't right.Facts are. facts the paramedic pulled infront of the car.right is right.Accidents happen he drove for bonham the city should have to pay.God bless all. No matter what the case he should of took his time to see if a car was coming this is so sad. I pray for the family of the victims. this accident could of been prevented and 3 people couldve still been here..

Posted by: J.G. Location: Bonham, Texas on Dec 29, 2008 at 02:12 PM
God bless both parties involved. I am sure no one intended this to happen. It is a terrible tragety for both the victim's families and the EMS personel involved. The healing will take time and both parties need the support not only from thier family and friends, but thier community as well. And for those putting negative comments, REMEMBER THIS COULD HAVE BEEN YOU. So the next time someone puts a negative comment, no matter how safe you may think you drive or how accident free you may be, accidents happen, so remember, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN YOU.

Tracy, if you don't know the whole story please don't post on here, the ambulance was stop at a stop sign so NO he did not have the right of way, and there was a blind spot and he did not see the car until it was too late

first of all none of them was wearing seat belts is what i have seen in the newspaper

Emergency vehicles have the right of way, period. I've seen too many people ignore them and not pull over and give them the right of way like they're supposed to. Perhaps if these people had been paying attention and pulled over like they were supposed to, this wouldn't have happened. It's not the EMT's fault for other's behavior and ignoring the laws.

loosing a life is terrible, but an accident is an accident. why is it when an accident happens everybody wants someone to go to jail? what these ems guys are going thru is torture enough, i would imagine. may God ease the pain that EVERYONE is going thru. i have pulled out in front of a car before, without seeing the car. it can happen, i bet it has happen to a few of you too.

Cindy, it is called freedom of speech and if you don't like the comments on here then don't read them, the fault, whose fault was it it was both OK, first of all, if these three people that were in the car had their seat belts on they might be alive today, and there is no telling how fast they were going, second, the Ambulance driver yes people there r blind spots on these trucks just like there r in cars and every vehicle out there

Posted by: unknown Location: Hendrix,OK on Dec 28, 2008 at 09:54 PM
oh doing the reenact is going to accomplish what? you are not going to bring back the 3 people who lost there lives on "Christmas Day" And if you don't do it smart you could hurt somebody again.. well they mite have been going to fast on the road but the EMS Drivers should have looked before they pulled out.. I pray for the family of the ones who couldn't spend Christmas with there family...

Posted by: Cindy Location: Grayson County on Dec 28, 2008 at 02:07 PM
I realize that this site allows freedom of speech, but when circumstances like these are involved KXII really should not print the negative comments, they only make the tragedy for all parties involved only worse. The people that write the hateful comments here, I hope and pray you never have to walk an hour in the shoes of all the victims that are involved here because I don't think you could handle the heat. Please KXII don't print the comments that only cause more pain, don't you think the people and families have suffered enough.

This is a horrable accident, and accidents do happen. I dont point fingers untill I see facts, however, the speed limit on Hwy 69 is 70 mph (too fast) and it is Texas law to always wear a seat belt. God bless the families involved. Everyone, slow down ans wear your seat belts.

i feel like these blogs do nothing but give ignorant beings a forum to prove their ignorance. that being said a mistake was made, an Accident happened and tragically people died. these are the facts that we all know to be completely true. so why is there even mention of seatbelts, jail, ems certifications. as a paramedic firefighter and human my self i would hate to think that comments like the ones posted here about the driver would be said about me. I can assure all of you in know way did he intend on having a wreck that morning much less killing anyone again it was an accident. and will be delt with according to the laws of the State of texas, please all of you take time to remember and pray for all involved in this terriable Accident before you make such rash and harsh statments god bless you all Mr.X i pray that your apology was truly from your heart. to the Bonham Fire Department. keep your heads up and on strait do your jobs and go home to your families then come back in 48

WHY DOES SOMEONE NOT ASK HOW MANY CALLS THESE GUYS HAD BEEN ON PRIOR TO THIS ACCIDENT, OR HOW MUCH SLEEP/ REST THEY HAVE HAD DURING THE SHIFT? I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THIS DEPARTMENT CAN RECIEVE UP TO 30 OR MORE CALLS IN A 24 HOUR SHIFT!! WHEN FIGHTING A FIRE, IF YOU ARE TOO TIRED TO GO FUNCTION YOU GET TO REST. IN EMS THAT IS NOT THE CASE. THESE GUYS TAKE PATIENTS TO DALLAS VA ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT. EVEN TRUCK DRIVERS HAVE A SET NUMBER OF HOURS THEY ARE ALLOWED TO BE ON THE ROAD WITHOUT REST!!! WHY ARE MEDICS EXPECTED TO BE AS SHARP AS WHEN THEY BEGAN THEIR SHIFT EVEN AFTER BEING AWAKE FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS AT A TIME!!!

This is a tragedy no matter how you look at it. We need to be praying for all involved instead of slinging mud. The family that was killed and the paramedics alike all need our prayers. It was a tragic accident and these paramedics will suffer more than most in this situation primarily because the nature of their job is to save lives and this unfortunate accident ended up costing lives. BUT - it was an ACCIDENT. They will have so many what-ifs in their mind. What if we had stayed at the scene 5 minutes longer, what if we weren't talking, what if, what if, what if. But, what-if the victims had seat belts on? They would probably be alive today. There are seat belt law signs posted all along the highways, but they were not wearing theirs and it very likely cost them their lives. But in reality none of these what-ifs really matters, God has plans layed out and that's why things happen as they do. I hope the paramedics can move on from this tragedy and continue saving lives. Pray for them.

Mr. X: Why don't you get some gumption and put your actual name on here? You sir, are pathetic. You personally attack the ones involved in this accident without even knowing them and don't even have the guts to put your name on this website. As for that apology, you can save it. You should have just made the apology for everyone involved in the beginning and left it at that. I have many friends who are EMS/Firefighters, and believe me, they are the best in their field. Every one of them give 110% to make everyone else safer. Unfortunately, incidents like this happen every now & then. The two young men in the ambulance will have to live with this for the rest of their lives -- they are only human and don't deserve to be ridiculed by some jerk such as you.

Some of you people are unreal and heartless! No matter what the circumstances were 3 people were killed on what was supposed to be a beautiful day! It was a tragedy no matter who was at fault. I'm guessing that the people involved are hurting enough without all of the hateful comments. I live just down the road from 981 and I can see how an accident like this happened. Shame on all of you for being so hurtful! May God bless the family of the lost and send peace to all that were involved!

I wish you all could have had the priviledge of knowing Pam, Kipp and Cameron. How lucky you would have been. Pam was a very loving, caring Christian woman that worked in a blood center that saved many lives. She was an amazing mother, daughter, sister and friend. The report we recieved from the BPD was that Pam was wearing her seatbelt. The boys weren't because they were catching some sleep before celebrating Christmas with their family. Was she speeding? I doubt it. The point is...the EMS driver pulled out in front of her. She didn't even have time to hit her brakes! Why? Only God knows. But our hearts go out to the EMS Driver and his family. I have no doubt that he did not do this on purpose. It was an accident! God Bless us all!

To Paramedic North Texas...Any case involving three deaths would have received plenty of publicity regardless of whether or not an EMS vehicle/staff were involved. In fact, if a civilian had been driving instead of an EMS staff person, the finger pointing would probably be worse. Chances are there wouldn't be so many posting here insisting a civilian be given the benefit of the doubt.

May God Bless the Families of these 3 that have passed on. God help the medics get through this I know that this is a tuff time for them but we all know really that when it is our time to go there is no stopping the Lord from taking us!

First of All prayers to the families of family and to the medics. After riding/driving both fire engines and ambulances in and around the City of Dallas,I have never wrecked a unit and not many of the Dallas and surrounding area units are in accidents. This is the second time that Bonham EMS has been involved in a multi-fatality accident in a few years. The first report was not favable to the Bonham Fire Department under Chief Baker, and now another one under a new cheif. Its time that Fannin County and the city of Bonham take a long hard look at,is it time to farm the EMS back out to a private service. I am sure that a private service could provide the same or better level of service at almost 500,000.00 a year? I cant wait for the official report to come out on this accident. Accidents can be prevented by trainig, training, training and paying attention when you drive. I am proud to say with over 2million emergency service miles with now accidents, that training is the answer.

Trying to blame the dead for driving to fast isn't right.Facts are. facts the paramedic pulled infront of the car.right is right.Accidents happen he drove for bonham the city should have to pay.God bless all.

Accidents happen every day. There will always be human error, despite intention. Finding out every specific detail of what happened will not bring anyone back and will not make the guilt any easier knowing that there are 3 people who are now gone. Cameron is one of my friends, and I love him dearly. Loosing anyone you care about is hard, and there should be an amount of time that you give those grieving before you start throwing things at them about the specifics. The EMS department may have made a mistake, but I know that they have no ill intention and although this hurts, we know that it could have been anyone, anywhere, anytime. Speaking of Cameron in specific, I know that deep in my heart, he would be laughing if it was only him. He would say "Only I could get hit by an ambulance and die after all the things I have done at any give time in my past that could have wound me up dead or seriously injured." He would have seen the irony in it and laughed. I will pray for all in mourning.

to MR. X: Your apology is too little too late...Accidents happen- that's a fact. That's why we have EMS, DRS, ERs, etc... ALL have HUMAN input and as long as there is HUMAN involvement, there WILL BE mistakes.I DO wish there was a PRIVATE ambulance company in Bonham- to handle all the non-emergencies- like the earaches after 5 pm, the toothaches, and all the other non-emergencies that EMS gets called to.I feel badly for the family who died in this accident- if they weren't wearing seatbelts- they were of adult age to decide for themselves. I am thankful that the 2 EMS workers are ok- this will take a very long time to get over. I am thankful that they didn't have to transport the patient- or there would have been another person in the accident. When I heard the news, it brought back memories of a day not so long ago between Dodd City and Bonham...and I am so thankful that Paramedic DH is still with BFD SAVING LIVES!

Please be respectful of the memory of Pam and her sons. We recently moved to Wisconsin and prior to that she was in my sunday school class at church. You couldn't find a more loving and caring person who truly loved her children, friends and family but most of all loved her God and didn't mind letting others know. She was a woman who had already tragically lost another son several years ago and never quite got over that. This family has suffered a large loss and needs to be left alone. As for the EMS workers involved....and from one who knew and loved Pam....know that she would never blame you and would only want you to know that she & the boys are now with our Heavenly Father and that she would hope to see you there someday when it is your time. Everyone please allow her family time to grieve and learn to hug your own family tight as none of us ever know when God will call us home to be with Him forever. Christmas was God's gift to give us ETERNAL life and they spent it with HIM!

To MR X you are so ignorent and morally wrong you have no clue what you are talking about accidnets happen there is no reason for the ambulance driver to be sent to jail or have his license taken away he might deserve a ticket but that is not for us to judge the only one who can judge that are the ones who investigate the accident you need to learn the facts be for you open your mouth all you are doing is making it harder on the parties involved in the accident. you need to get a life budd and leave all who are involved alone if you have nothing nice to say then you need not say anything at all. TO ALL PARTIES INVOLED IM DEEPLY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO YOU ALL and to the ambulance crew keep your heads up i know how hard this is for yall i myself have been involved in an accident where it took to other parties life. To the bonhame fire department thank you for all you do to keep our area safe god bless you all.

the car must have been driving to fast to have push the ambulance to make it turn over as heavy as it is. I drive that road as a truck driver and the people drive to fast for a two lane road. A lot of out of state driver think that is there own speed way. People need to slow down any way. thank you.

my heart and sympthy go out to the familys of those who died and their familys and also to the medics and their familys. I was a firefighter for 17 years and a medic for 10. I know how crushing this must be for the medics involved and knowing nothing they can do can take away the familys pain. I promise you if they could they would. It is so tragic an accident like this occurs, be it a public service involved or just citizens. Please eveyone pray for these familys and medics for the days to come will be so hard for all of them. These were good people involved in a tragic accident, may God ease the pain and bless all of those involved in these days of sadness yet to come.

To all involved my prayers go out to you. May God comfort and heal your pain. To those that wish to make absurd comments, this why the Webster's has the word idiot listed. To Bill Palya and the Bonham Fire Department thank you for the work you do daily, your reward is in heaven. To the family of the deceased I pray God's greatest comfort and strength. Accident's are called accident's for a reason, somethings have no rhytme nor reason. I lost my 6 year old niece in April to a tragic car accident, no amount of pointing fingers will bring her back. I pray for the driver of the ambulance that he will turn to God in order to cope with his pain. Thanks again Bill for the work you do.

Well said Bill. I do pray for the men that were involved. I wish there could be no negative remarks when so many people have been hurt by this accident. And to DJ, you do knew personally how this could affect people. Thanks for those kind words. I am truly sorry for the loss of your friends.

If you take out the fact that there was an ambulance involved, Paramedics involved, and a fire department involved, unfortunately these same accidents occur everyday involving people like YOU and is not publicized as much. (lucky for you, huh?) Unfortunately, the bad thing in this case is the fact that it is receiving more publicity due to it involving fire department apparatus. The medic who was driving is human JUST LIKE you and me. You can rest assured that this investigation will be ongoing for quite some time. This accident will be investigated by law enforcement, the fire department itself, the city, as well as the State of Texas. It is too early for you to be casting stones! You can also rest assured that had everyone had their seatbelts on, they would have not been killed; they would have been injured. I guarantee you that the medics had their seatbelts on per department policy. The medics even overturned and were treated and released from the hospital. Don't be judgemental.

I believe I can speak for a few people of the local EMS families involved in this accident As a family we are deeply impacted and department sorrow is overwhelming EMS does not intend to take life for they understand death and see death EVERDAY These men involved in this accident are kind and generous in there nature based on their careers While serving others, tragedy does happen FACT: The ambulance was pulling away from a 911 scene of a no transport call after stabilizing the health emergency. They were traveling less than 5 miles per hour pulling out of the driveway. The car was traveling over the speed limit. Too fast at 5 oclock in the morning and the driver GOD BLESS HER SOUL and her SONS did not see them. The car smacked the SIDE of the ambulance enough to roll it over 3 times. There is no blame here. Tradgedy happens. Why curse 1 more EMS worker with the burder of others irresponsiblity. Could we blame her if our family members had died?

Posted by: Bill Palya Location: Fire Chief Bonham on Dec 26, 2008 at 12:06 PM
First Mr. X I put my name on here.Second you are making hasty remarks about what you know little. My men put their lives on the line everyday for the citizens of Fannin County and do a great job. This is a tradgety for all involved, but to think that this member of my department won't live with this the rest of his life and relive it every Christmas from now on is absurd on your part. This will be investigated just like any other and if anything,be looked at harder because of who it involves. We are here to save lives and the tole this takes on someone who dedicates himself to that task is far beyond what you can imagine. We pray for the family members who are grieving over their loss and we pray for one of our own who has had a pain infleicted on him that will never go away.To the other Fireman the next time you are running code to a call or from one this could have been you.Our whole department feels this pain and a lot of healing will need to be done, this will leave a scare.Prayers to all

It is a very sad thing that the lives of my family were taken on Christmas Day, when they were comming to be with us, the rest of the family. I am sure it was an accident. My family is gone and the driver will have to live with that the rest of there life. Mistake or not can't we just forgive them. Life will still go on

I knew this woman and her sons...it is a terrible tragedy and I pray for the family left behind. I am also married to a paramedic. He is a regular guy just like everyone else. People make mistakes and sometimes the consequences are tragic, but I can only imagine how that crew is suffering as well. Those who aren't involved should really keep their comments to themselves, noone has the right to judge. Ambulance personnel are held to the same legal standards as anyone on the road when they are not reponding to a call. I am sure that the grief that this crew is feeling now would greatly outweigh any citations they might receive. And as far as stripping a professional license, this type of thing has nothing to do with performance of his duties, this could as easily have happened to anyone.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: grayson county on Dec 26, 2008 at 11:35 AM
you people that are writing ill comments have no idea what you speak of. walk one mile(.25 mile) in the shoes of a FF/medic and you will thank god that someone besides YOU is man/woman enough to do. I hope the LORD deals with your ignorance SOON mr.X

Posted by: Paula Location: Sherman on Dec 26, 2008 at 11:32 AM
It seems to me that the car must have been traveling fast (70) to make the ambulance turn over. I just wish that the three that died had been wearing seat belts and maybe they would still be alive. I feel so bad for their family. I never let my adult children ride in my car without a seatbelt. I feel bad for the EMS. His job is to try and save lives and he has to be very upset. I would not want his license taken away. He probably has saved many lives. This was an accident and we don't have all the facts yet. God bless all that was involved and their families. Please think before you comment.

dont get me wrong im not directing my comments towards BONHAM FIRE im sure the EMS driver did not mean to do what has happend but im sure that he would change what has happend if he could so with all that being said my prayers go to both the family & bonham fire

This is a very sad accident to read about and to happy on christmas morning, I feel sorry for the mother & 2 of her sons for having to have there life ended on a day like that and by a EMS drivers that couldn't pay attention.. I do think they should be punished like anybody else wiht a drivers license suspension or sent to jail... if they was going to a Emergency call they should have paid more attention

Posted by: Jerry Location: San Antonio, Texas on Dec 26, 2008 at 11:15 AM
Cameron and Kipp were family to me and toughs close to me. They will be DEEPLY missed. They were my daughter's uncles, and can never be replaced. From their family and friends, I would like to ask everyone to please be respectful, kind in your words, and save the passing of blame for some other time. Right now, our only interest is the burial of our family and the memories we shared with them.

Posted by: Tex Location: Sherman on Dec 26, 2008 at 10:52 AM
Mr.X i can understand you being mad and upset and thinking someone should be held liable for the 3 lives that were taken on Christmas morning. I am not for sure but i would think that the drive of the ambulance did not do it on purpose. Have you ever crashed your car? Mistakes happen and unfortunatly 3 lives are now gown but to say that their jobs should be taken away for a mistake is not right. The best thing we can all do right now instead of complain about the Bonham Fire dept. is pray for everyone involved that God will give them the strength they need to get through this time. I will also pray for you that God will change your Heart.

Posted by: Firefighter Location: Texas on Dec 26, 2008 at 10:52 AM
Mr.X I hope you never need help with you better than evey one attuide. You have never had to work 24hr shifts with little pay and no sleap. Yes if the amblance driver is in the wrong. than the laws should be inforced just the same. But you neeed all the facts first. So just shut and get a life.

Thoughts and prayers to all involved. Channel 12 was the ambulance responding to a call. Why were they in the area?

Posted by: Just a guy Location: Texas on Dec 26, 2008 at 09:45 AM
I highly doubt that any other person would go to jail for an accident. Maybe a ticket at most. On top of that why would the state need to strip him/her of the right to practice as a paramedic? How does this situation have any effect on that issue? Mr. X you sir are a moron.

Posted by: FireMedic Location: TX on Dec 26, 2008 at 09:25 AM
I believe that before Mr X casts all the blame onto the EMS driver, he should let the investigation determine who is at fault. If he is at fault, he should pay the same price as anyone else. Who is to say that the car wasnt doing 80-90 mph like so many others I have seen on hwy 69. Were the others even wearing seatbelts? As for stripping his EMS license, that is a bit much. I know that these drivers are extremely well trained. There is a special EVOC, emergency vehicle operator course, that ALL EMERGENCY PERSONNEL are REQUIRED TO TAKE AND PASS. I understand Mr X's frustration. We need ALL the facts before we judge anyone.

TWO WRONGS DON'T MAKE IT RIGHT. THE DRIVER OF THE AMBULANCE NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE.

Posted by: MR. X Location: TX on Dec 26, 2008 at 07:22 AM
BONHAM FIRE CHEIF BILL PALYA NEEDS TO KNOW REGARDLESS THE OTHER THREE PASSENGERS IN THE OTHER VEHICLE WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS OR NOT HIS (BILL PALYA) DRIVER NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR KILLING THOSE THREE IN THE OTHER VEHICLE. THE DRIVER NEEDS TO BE STRIP FROM HIS EMS LICENSE AND SENT TO PRISON. IF IT WAS ANYONE ELSE THE LAW WOULD CERTAINLY HOLD THAT PERSON RESPONSIBLE AND WOULD PROBABLY SEND THAT DRIVER TO PRISON FOR KILLING.

Posted by: MR. X Location: TX on Dec 26, 2008 at 06:05 AM
I HOPE THE AMBULANCE GUY THAT WAS DRIVING GETS WHAT HE DESERVES INSTEAD OF GETTING AWAY WITH IT JUST BECAUSE HE IS AN EMS PERSON. HE SHOULD OF PAID MORE ATTENTION ON THE ROAD AND HE WOULDN'T HAVE KILLED THOSE THREE PEOPLE. IF IT WAS ANYONE ELSE THEY CERTAINLY WOULD NOT GET AWAY WITH IT. I HOPE HE LOSE'S HIS LICENSE AS A EMS PERSON FOREVER IF NOT SENT TO PRISON IN WHICH I HOPE HE DOES GO TO PRISON. HE DESERVES TO.
