8-21-06 Some property owners in a College Park neighborhood of Sherman are upset over a zoning request approved earlier this month.
The neighborhood off Cleveland Street could be the sight of new duplexes in the area of Austin College.
Jerry Lincecum has been the catalyst for more than thirty property owners who signed a petition, many of whom plan on speaking at tonight's council meeting.
They say being so close to Austin College, the developer's proposed plans for duplexes on the lot would bring a lot of students to the area, not families, something they think goes against the purpose of the college park overlay. They say a dorm like residence could crowd their street.
Two nearby churches that already have problems with students using their lots to park have also signed the petition.
