DENISON, Tex. ― With school now back in session and tight budgets for some local parents, many kids are in need of school supplies. The Denison Chamber of Commerce is lending a hand.

For the second year the chamber is teaming up with Partners in Education to collect school supplies. All the donations will be distributed to the Denison Independent School District.

"I see everyday kids that come in, and they don't have the supplies that they need so we want our kids on a footing to where they can educate themselves," Christy Raitt at the Denison Chamber of Commerce says.

If you would like to see the list of supplies that are needed, check the link below.

I think you are reading too much into it. So what? It's a bunch of folks who want to make sure that every kid has everything they need to suceed, especially something as trivial as a pencil. They send something called i dont know "homework" maybe. I guess that is what they mean by teaching themselves since they have to do that themselves. get it? i guess you don't have kids to understand what they are trying to do here.

Its about time some of these CIVIC organazations stepped up to the plate. T his country thanks to an idiot president is in a mess. More Civic minded people and groups need to take the lead in restoring confidence in our way of life.Im glad to hear of such action instead of Champagne Dinners and Vegas Nite to raise funds for charity that I nor anyone I know has benefited from. You people thatwant to be civic leaders need to live for one week like the rest of us do and maybe just maybe you would take off the rosey glasses and see just how screwed up things have gotten. There are no jobs, money or hope the Haves ought to look around because your wealth is next to go.Im sorry but I am just a little bitter I just went thru the most dismal and depressing holiday season I ever seen in 53 years and all I SEE IS GREEDY AND FOOLS LEADIND AND CONTROLING OUR LIVES

What is the definition of an everyday kid and when they come in to the Denison Chamber of Commerce how can you tell they don't have the supplies that they need? If it were cold outside you might add a coat to the list only if they weren't wearing one. OR maybe if it was hot outside, they might need new flip flops...add that to the list. I agree with anonymous @ 6:41pm about kids educating themselves!! HUH????
