Wednesday and Thursday are Weather Aware days due to the potential for locally heavy rainfall. Beware of flooded road-ways and never drive around barricades or into water more than six inches deep. High rainfall rates may reduce visibility and also increase the risk of hydroplaning. Turn around, don’t drown! Isolated strong thunderstorms may develop late Wednesday afternoon, but widespread severe weather does not appear to be likely at this time.
08-23-06 – The search for a missing elderly man from the Dallas area ended Wednesday morning in Grayson County.
The search first began Tuesday, when the man’s car was found parked along side Highway 82, about 7 miles west of Sherman.
Deputies say the 79-year-old man has Alzheimer’s, and had wandered off. Searchers looked for him until about 12:30 AM Tuesday night, and resumed their search Wednesday morning, with help from a special rescue group out of Lewisville.
The man was found about 8 Wednesday morning alive and well, under a culvert on Highway 82, not far from where his truck was found the day before.
Deputies are not releasing the elderly man's name, but say he was taken to a local hospital and will be just fine. Officials say the man was just happy to be found.
