A major development deal is in the works for southern Grayson County and Van Alstyne. The Mantua project would be a combination of shops, homes, and maybe even new schools. It would center on the Collin and Grayson County line.
The cities of Anna and Van Alstyne are working with a private developer to get the project off the ground.
It's still in the very early planning stages. So far the cities have an idea of what they would look like, but they'll have to work together on the terms of annexation and zoning.
In all, the project would take more than two decades, but early construction could begin in two or three years.
