BRYAN COUNTY, Okla. ― A former Bryan County jailer has been charged with assaulting a female prisoner. Officials say Andrew Duane Sloan was charged Wednesday with sexual battery.

Sheriff’s investigator John Bates says they began investigating in 2007. He says Sloan was fired for policy violations but the battery charges were not filed at that time.

Bates says Sloan is out on bond, but there is another warrant for his arrest for two rape charges in 2008. He says one of the rape charges involves a 14-year-old girl.

I guess I was reading a different comment from footballmom. She was not saying his family is to blame. She was just stating that home life did not appear to be the greatest. And what exactly does home life show about how a person turns out? Look at Scott Peterson...well to do family, great wife, future child. Then he turns to murder. You never know how a person will be. As for Jay Mauck....you were NOT there so you cannot testify for this person. You know him as a patron. Just cause he is a great tipper does not mean he is not a rapist. People keep their dark secrets to themselves. That is why they are called secrets.

Sturch forgot to include the Thanksgiving Day Rape?????? Why

Blaming his family is completely uncalled for. His family raised me. They are good people. I don't know if he did what he's charged with but I do know that sometimes you can do all the right things to raise a child only to be disappointed in them. AND that girl is not 14. Both of those girls are well over 14, although that doesn't excuse it if it's true. You people need to leave this family alone. They are already going through enough. If Andrew did wthose things then he should be held responsible for his actions, afterall he is an adult. His family didn't make his decisions for him.

THE WHOLE PROBLEM WITH BRYAN CO. STARTS WITH BILL STURCH. OUR JAIL HASN'T BEEN SAFE FOR A LONG TIME. THE SAD THING IS THERE IS SCHOOLS VERY CLOSE BY AND HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE ESCAPED IN THE LAST FEW YEARS? I GUESS WE KNOW WHAT THE GUARDS WERE DOING!

Posted by: Zyklon B Location: Sherman on Jan 12, 2009 at 01:31 PM
Looks like he is almost smiling or smug. Probably thinks what he did is funny. It won't be funny for him in general population when he drops the soap.

You cannot judge people by their pictures or if they are nice. The gentleman does need his fair due process in court. If he is innocent, he will be proven so and released. If he is guilty, he will be charged and be punished. It is a sad situation if he had a bad home life, but that is no reason to become a "rapist" or commit any other crimes. That is something that should be overcome and many people from this same sort of situation have overcome the problems and have turned out okay. There may have been a situation in the jail also that led to all of this, but that is no excuse either. If you work there, you should do your job correctly and not let anything else interfere.

This is all just a BIG misunderstanding. Justice will set him free.

Posted by: Achille Location: Bryan Co. on Jan 12, 2009 at 08:55 AM
Who are you people to judge? I have known Andrew and his family for at least 5 to 6 years and he has always been a good kid. If you want to call a step family dysfunctional then I guess he is from a dysfunctional family but who isn't in today's time. If Andrew did this he should be punished for what he did but if not he doesn't deserve to pulled through the mud like this. His parent's are good people who would do anything for anyone include taking in children who have nowhere else to go. Now it is not your job to jump to conclusions on this matter a jury will do that for Andrew. If there is one among without sin he can throw the first stone, Yeh that's what I thought. None of you can do it, because there in no one sinless. So instead of judging other people's lives maybe just maybe you should take a good hard look in the mirror. Sloan family you are in our prayers. Andrew keep your head up kid, we got your back.

He probably thought it was one of the "perks" of the job!

Posted by: chuck Location: durant on Jan 12, 2009 at 06:35 AM
why wasn't he charged in 2007?. Is the sheriff office that slow in getting charges filed that it took two more incidents before they filed on him or was it the D.A. office that failed to protect the public?. The durant paper reported that another jailer was also involved was he ever charged?.

Posted by: Cat Location: Texas on Jan 11, 2009 at 08:16 PM
I hope Anonymous on January 10 at 9:09 is not serious. If everyone who came from disfunctional families committed crimes, there would be no law and order. IT'S NO EXCUSE!

Hmmm wonder if this dude was around when Rebecca Robertson aka HOUSEWIFE BANDIT was in the Bryan County Jail? I hear if you get put in jail in Durant you get special privileges with the jailers. Including sex, cigarettes, and other contribaned items.

I can't believe he doesn't have a mullet! I bet he wants one :)

Posted by: wow Location: sherman on Jan 11, 2009 at 08:24 AM
What ever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? Now, it is unlikely that 3 different women/girls would come forward and claim that he raped them. quit speculating and let a jury decide whether he is guilty or innocent.

Your comments underscore one of the biggest problems in society today. It makes no difference what went on or goes on in his family. He is still responsible for his own actions. Blaming his family/upbringing is nothing but a loser's cop-out.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jan 10, 2009 at 09:09 AM
Footballmom got it right. Why should this man be held resposnible for his actions. After all he is just another victim. Why should any of use be held accountable its never are fault we are a sociey of blame someone else.Im the victim. Sounds like his family should pay the price not him.Poor boy he really is just another victim.

I wonder if a background check was done on him, AND if he took any of ""Bryan County" classes to even hold that job? Well I know the answer to that one myself , that would be a NO, you do not even have to finish high school or have a clean record to do that job. GO FIGURE!

give him a trial, if guilty put him in BIG MAC [he likes burgers] and let him be raped while incarcerated.punishment fits the crime, who knows he might like it.

Posted by: care on Jan 9, 2009 at 08:02 PM
and he did not come form a disfuctional family, and he did not do this the girl said she was 17,i call that intrapment. He is a very sensitive person, and he's not guilty thats forsure

What do you mean if you knew his family you would understand why he is sick?

Posted by: TX Mom on Jan 9, 2009 at 07:07 PM
Are his charges in OK or Texas?

Posted by: T-ROC Location: Denison on Jan 9, 2009 at 07:04 PM
Are you people freaking kiddng me? why are you guys (footballmom,Jay) taking sides with this rapist? "let him out and leave him alone", what the he$$ is the matter with you? no wonder your working in a burger joint. And what do you mean he didnt do anything wrong? He's been accused of sexual assault and rape, kind of hard to believe that this guy had nothing to do with either one of these things. Do us all a favor and keep your ignorant comments to yourself. CRAZY!!!!

Posted by: wandering Location: oklahoma on Jan 9, 2009 at 06:41 PM
kinda scary when you have loved ones in the county makes you wander if they are being treated right,or are the jailers humiliating and abusing them.

Posted by: footballmom Location: Sherman on Jan 9, 2009 at 06:17 PM
I know him too. He really has a lot of family problems. If you knew his family you would understand why he is sick

Posted by: Anonymous on Jan 9, 2009 at 04:46 PM
Just because he likes burgers and comes to Madill does not make him inocent or guilty. Give him due process. Jay did you not read he is OUT of jail on bond.

Posted by: Crazy Location: Sherman on Jan 9, 2009 at 04:29 PM
I believe it....just look at that picture...bet he hasn't had a date in a long time.
