Attorney Suing Over MG Auto Project

08-30-06 - The MG Plant is a year away from breaking ground in Ardmore but someone is challenging the board that helped get it off the ground.

Oklahoma City attorney Jerry Fent filed suit Tuesday against the constitutionality of the state board that approved $20 million from the opportunity fund to persuade the Chinese company to build its plant at the Ardmore Air Park. He says the board violates the separation of powers provision because it includes the Governor, Speaker of the House and Senate President pro tem. That means legislators are making executive branch decisions.

Ardmore Development Authority Officials say the suit has no bearing on operations and they're moving forward as normal..

The Contingency Board was established in 1982. ADA officials say the attorney has filed suits in the past concerning economic development in the state
