9-2-06 – Authorities in Love County spent hours searching for suspects who they say tried to pass forged checks at a Marietta Bank. According to the Love County Sheriff, two or three men walked into the First National Bank around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and tried to cash the checks.
As the teller worked on the transaction, authorities say there was a delay and the suspects may have gotten spooked. They ran out of the bank and got into a van outside.
A few minutes later, authorities spotted the van and chased it to I-35, where the men bailed out and took off on-foot into a wooded area near mile marker 18.
Deputies from Carter and Love County joined the FBI in a manhunt. One suspect was caught, but his identity has not been released. The rest are still at large.
