09-08-06 – The devastating news for some employees in Atoka that the Ethan Ellen Plant plans to close its upholstery production line, has gotten the attention of Congressman Ernest Istook.
Istook, a candidate for Oklahoma Governor, is meeting with city leaders and employees in Atoka Friday.
According to a press release, Istook wants to get an assessment of the jobs lost in Atoka, which is a community of about 3,000 people.
Wednesday, Ethan Allen made plans to convert the plant into a distribution enter needing fewer employees. Ethan Allen has operated in Atoka for more than 30 years.
