Weather Aware conditions continue overnight due to the potential for locally heavy rainfall. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 7 a.m. for the northernmost portions of Texoma including Atoka, Coal, Johnston, Murray and Pontotoc Counties Beware of flooded road-ways and never drive around barricades or into water more than six inches deep. 09-16-06 - A six-year-old had to be flown to the hospital Monday morning after two cars collided in Carter County.
It happened just before 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 70 and 76. Troopers say 61-year-old Donald Jenkins was heading south in a red pickup when he failed to yield at the stoplight and slammed into a green van heading west.
Jeannie Shanks, 31, was driving that van. She was taking five kids to school when it happened. Troopers say six-year-old Caleb Denny had to be flown to an Oklahoma City hospital for his injuries.
Jenkins was taken to Mercy Memorial in Ardmore where he is in stable condition with internal injuries.
All others involved were taken to Mercy Memorial in Ardmore for observation. Troopers say they were all treated and released.
