Wednesday and Thursday are Weather Aware days due to the potential for locally heavy rainfall. Beware of flooded road-ways and never drive around barricades or into water more than six inches deep. High rainfall rates may reduce visibility and also increase the risk of hydroplaning. Turn around, don’t drown! Isolated strong thunderstorms may develop late Wednesday afternoon, but widespread severe weather does not appear to be likely at this time.
09-21-06 - The United Way kick-off luncheon was held at the Ardmore Convention Center on Thursday. Oklahoma First Lady Kim Henry was there to get the campaign rolling with words of encouragement and motivation.
Thirty six different agencies in Carter, Love, Murray, Johnston and Marshall Counties will benefit from money donated by residents all over the area.
Organizations like the American Red Cross, family shelters and ambulance services rely on United Way to operate.
Last year, organizers set a goal of $650,000 but ended up raising almost $800,000. However, this year’s goal is even higher. The local United Way campaign is part of a national effort.
