09-21-06 – Heartland Flyer has announced a way to avoid traffic jams on the way to the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, by offering round-trip tickets just for Oklahoma University Sooner fans.
The round-trip tickets go from Oklahoma City to Dallas for Sooner fans who are planning to watch the Red River Rivalry between the Sooners and the Texas Longhorns on October 6th.

A special fare of $24.00 round trip is being offered just for Sooners fans. Lunch is available for purchase in the snack coach.
The Heartland Flyer will leave from Santa Fe Station in Oklahoma City at 9:25 a.m., Friday, October 6, and will arrive at downtown Dallas Union Station at 3:10 p.m. just in time for passengers to enjoy all the pre-game festivities. The train will make scheduled stops along the way in Norman, Purcell, Pauls Valley, Ardmore, Gainesville and Ft. Worth.
On the return trip, the Heartland Flyer will depart from downtown Dallas Union Station at 3:25 p.m. Sunday, October 8, and will arrive back in Oklahoma City at 10:39 p.m.
To make reservations, call 1-800-USA-RAIL, and ask for special fare code X237. No additional discounts (seniors, children, disabled, etc.) will be available for this trip. This special fare of $24.00 round trip is available only by calling the 1-800 USA-RAIL number; it cannot be booked online.
If reserving a seat by phone you can pay for your ticket on board at no extra charge with cash or a major credit card by showing your reservation confirmation number. Reservations are required for all passengers. No passengers will be allowed on the train without photo identification and a reservation confirmation number or ticket. Children must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. All bags or baggage taken onto the train will be tagged and must match photo identification of the passenger.
