9-22-06 - A Carter County man will spend the rest of his life in prison for killing David Creecy almost a decade ago.
On Friday, a judge sentenced William Studeman to life in prison without parole.
Last month, a jury found him guilty of first degree murder in the shooting death of David Creecy in 1997.
For years, Creecy's death was believed to be accidental until witnesses came forward saying William Studeman confessed to the crime.
William's son Matthew was supposed to stand trial Monday for the same crime. However, his trial date has been pushed back to January while officials determine whether he's competent to stand trial.
