9-23-06 – One 14-year-old is in the hospital and another is behind bars after a shooting in Bells Friday night. Around 7:30 p.m., police were called to a home on Shelby Trail where they found a 14-year-old with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
He was taken to Texoma Medical Center and then flown to Parkland Hospital in Dallas where he underwent surgery. He is in critical condition.
Authorities say the investigation led them to a suspect: another 14-year-old. Police are still investigating what happened, but believe both boys were classmates at Bells High School.
Investigators have recovered a handgun; they are testing it to find out if it was used in the shooting.
The suspect is being held at a juvenile detention center; authorities say aggravated assault charges are pending.
