9-25-06 - Response time for Fannin County's ambulance services should be improving soon. Starting next month, the Bonham Fire Department will take sole responsibility for providing ambulances to the entire county.
One ambulance will work a particular route in order to increase response time.
Bonham Fire Chief Bill Palyat presented the plan to county commissioners. He says this is the best way to provide a reliable service to public.
County commissioners were split between using privately owned ambulance services and going with what they had in Bonham. Going with the fire department costs a little more, but their reliability outweighed all other factors.
In the meeting, commissioners also declared that all costs for the new plan will be accounted separately from that of the city costs.
