The problems over water service in a Bryan County town have taken another twist. The concern in Colbert is not whether there is enough water, but why it’s costing so much more than before this summer.
Residents are complaining that their bills went from in the ballpark of forty dollars to over one hundred. City leaders approved a 12 dollar base increase in august, so that's part of the reason for the hike. But another reason comes down to human error.
City hall says they do get people that come in complaining about the bills, and when that happens they do try to look at the consumption, find out if their was a mistake and if there is a mistake, they will work with the customer to make sure they are paying the right amount.
