THACKERVILLE, Okla -- A $4.6 million school bond issue has caused quite a controversy in the town of Thackerville. It was voted down Tuesday night.

Now the city of Thackerville will not be getting a new school. The school district says they proposed the bond to build a new school because their current facilities are at maximum capacity. But Thackerville residents voted against the multi-million dollar series bond to fund the new school construction.

The bond needed a super majority of 60% pass. The school's superintendent says only 53 percent of the ballots were cast in favor of the bond. 47% percent voted against it.
