A Grayson County steel producer is downsizing, which will leave nearly two dozen employees without a job.
There are two Keystone Consolidated Industries plants in Sherman and one in Southmayd. All three produce large coils of wire used for agriculture, industrial, and construction products.
One year ago, the independent company announced a plan to reorganize their corporation after filing for bankruptcy. They have been in the consolidation mode.
The corporation says they feel they can be more effective if they move their entire production and distribution operation to their Southmayd location on Gibbons Road. That will result in the closure of both Sherman plants.
The Sherman Economic Development Corporation says it's a plan they've been working on for the past three years.
The moving process has already begun. Between all three plants, they employ 55 people. The plan is to let 20 of them go.
