Sherman Grandmother Gets Probation

10-06-06 - On Friday afternoon, a jury finalized sentencing for the 75-year-old Sherman grandmother convicted yesterday of criminally negligent homicide.

Mary Burrow learned she'll spend the next five years on probation. In addition to the five years probation, Burrow's license will be suspended.

She cannot get that driver's license back until she has been medically cleared to drive again. When she does get clearance, the judge says Burrow can only drive on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Also, by order of the court, Burrow must wear a t-shirt saying she killed Freddie Raper two times a month at traffic court.

D.A. Joel Durrett says the family has accepted the sentence.

The judge also said that each year for the next five years, on the anniversary of the accident, December 3, Burrow must go to prison for 24 hours.

The attorney for Burrow agreed that this was a difficult case, but he says his client will do everything to comply with the court.
