10-7-06 - Grayson County staged a local version of “National Night Out” on Saturday, more than a month after the event was held across the country.
The event is a chance for citizens to take back their neighborhoods from criminals. Locally, it’s been a great opportunity for lawmen to meet the people they protect. But due to hot weather in August and the fact that the national event was always held during the week, Grayson County officials decided to move the date to October – dubbing it the “Texoma Night Out”.
They didn’t see the large crowds from years past, but Chief Deputy Ron Brown says it gave them a chance to interact with citizens of communities across the county.
Officials say it will be up to all cities involved whether to keep Texoma Night Out separate in the future.
