Rural fire departments in southern Oklahoma are getting more help from the state to pay the bills.
Local lawmakers secured enough funding to present every rural department in Love, Carter and Murray counties with a $1,000 check.
Murray County departments met at the Chickasaw National Recreation Area Wednesday night to receive their money.
The departments plan to use the funds for gas, parts and equipment.
