10-19-06 - The Bryan County Department of Human Services released dozens of balloons on Thursday as part of a celebration to mark the each successful case they've work.
Each balloon released represents a child which DHS has found a home for or completed guardianship for. The idea to have a balloon represent a child started in June.
Every time a child was taken care of, workers would place a balloon on a bulletin board they had created and it filled up in no time.
Organizers say the event today served as a morale booster, especially because of how difficult their job is in smaller communities.
Since March of 2005, DHS has helped 125 children find a permanent home.
