Drug Bust in Durant City Park

10-25-06 - Durant Police arrested a man using methamphetamines in a public park early Wednesday morning. It comes after citizen complaints about increased criminal activity led to increased police patrols.

Dickson Durant Park sits a stones throw away from Durant High School, and lately it's become a popular spot for students and a problem spot for police.

Police have had their eyes open, and at 3:30 this morning, an officer spotted an open pickup truck. After searching the park, they noticed the door on the restroom was locked, but after getting inside, they found meth.

Also inside was 38-year-old Brian Mullins who was taken to jail and charged with possession of meth.

Police say Carl Albert Park on the north side of town has also had some of the same problems and is another that they are watching closely.
