10-26-06 - The final step to beginning the demolition of the old Denison High School took place Thursday afternoon. The city and the owners of the building signed an agreement at 3 p.m., essentially transferring ownership to the city.
Denison Heritage Incorporated is handing the rights to the building and property over to the city until the city can come up with the money to take action.
City officials say they have until April to do that.
As of right now the city is currently looking for money for demolition, but officials say that the move today doesn't guarantee that demolition will be the end result.
We talked to a representative with the Save Denison High School Committee. They say a Dallas developer has started to show interest in the building.
Officials also tell us the city won't take control of the building until December 2.
