10-27-06 - The Ardmore Fire Department is now better equipped to handle hazardous material emergencies.
The department's new HazMat truck and trailer rolled into town on Thursday, which is only one of five in the state. It will enable crews to respond to any situation from tanker spills to acts of terrorism.
A FEMA grant worth more than $400,000 dollars made it possible.
The trailer includes Class A suits, emergency lighting, Internet access, as well as a satellite link up.
The Durant Fire Department received the same grant to purchase one of the state's only technical rescue trailers.
