11-08-06 - November 11, 2006 is Veterans Day. So we want to honor those who have served our country. Throughout the month of November, First News will share some of their most memorable experiences
From World War II to the War in Iraq, men and women from the Bonham V.A graciously shared their stories. From the front lines to the reality of being back home after battle, this is a preview of our month long tribute to America’s veterans
Theresa A. Schaefer, U.S. Army, says, “To me we work together. We work for our freedom."
These are the men and women who have stood on our front lines, fighting for our country.
Willie Mitchell, Korean War Veteran says, “But they don't show you in basic training how to get wounded"
Thomas Chouinard, WWII Veteran says, “I owe my life to many guys"
Bob Jamison, Vietnam Veteran says, "It's been a long road back"
For many years and years to come. Our veterans are the ones who know the whole story.
Millard Cook, World War II Veteran says, “And out of about 150 of them, he's the only one that survived."
They've lived it. They've seen the good. And of course, they've seen the bad.
Casey Phillips, Iraq Veteran says, “I don't know how many 24-year-olds can do what was done over there. Let alone...we had some 18 and 19-year-olds with us...it's outstanding.
But it’s all in the name of freedom.
James Price, Vietnam Veteran says, “I've been around the world and I don't want to live anywhere else but this country."
These stories will air every Monday and Wednesday throughout the month with a special dedication to those serving in the war right now. That story will air the Friday after Thanksgiving.
