11-9-06 - A Grayson County jury handed down the maximum sentence for a man convicted of seriously injuring two young men last October in a drunk driving accident. Timothy Whitmore received 10 years for intoxicated assault and 20 years for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Whitmore was driving drunk on October 13, 2005 when he ran a red light, causing the accident that injured 19-year-old Chase Ward and 22-year-old Justin McKenzie.
This week's trial was for McKenzie. Prosecutors had planned to try Whitmore on similar charges for the injuries to Ward. The sentences in this week's trial will be served concurrently.
