Hundreds turned out in Ardmore Friday morning to honor veterans of war.
Traditionally, the Carter County Veteran's Council honors vets on the 11th day of the 11th month at 11 o'clock. But this year, they chose to turn from that tradition in order to educate the youth.
The entire Plainview High School student body joined the crowd at the Ardmore veteran's center for the third year in a row.
The Ardmore school district also gave out a record number of diplomas to vets who left school early to defend their country.
It’s a tradition the state started back in 2001.
