11-27-06 - A longtime public servant in southern Oklahoma is taking over as city manager of Durant. After a 2-hour executive session, the Durant City Council named Jim Dunegan to the post being vacated by Paul Buntz.
Dunegan has lived in Bryan County for over 50 years, and served as a state representative for six terms. Since a run for Governor, Dunegan has served in the Durant Chamber of Commerce and volunteered in several area events, including the Bryan County Ag Expo.
Dunegan will officially take the post on December 11th. Buntz will remain on staff until the end of January to help make a smooth transition.
