RINGLING, Okla. – A national celebrity surprised one woman in Ringling Thursday afternoon, calling her a “hometown hero”. It’s all part of the “Jenny’s Heroes” Program, in which the former talk show host, Jenny Jones, gives away thousands of dollars in community grants.

Danielle Neble was completely surprised when Jones told her she was being awarded a $25,000 community grant. While Jones was not there in person, she did make the phone call herself during a mock city meeting Ringling’s Deputy Clerk, Cindy Morris, had set up so Neble’s family and friends could be present for the surprise. The celebration was complete with balloons, snacks, and rounds of applause.

"I couldn't believe it when she said it was Jenny Jones that was amazing,” Neble exclaimed. “I just couldn't believe that. That was great. I was so excited."

Neble applied for the community grant a couple months ago, but said she never dreamed of actually getting it. Neble will be using the money to rebuild the community’s run-down city park.

City leaders say the park equipment is more than 40 years old and it’s an improvement that will better the entire community. Neble says the grant is truly a gift of a life time and she can’t wait to get to work.
