Shooting suspect surrenders in Durant

DURANT, OK -- A Calera man who allegedly shot another man in the head in an armed robbery has turned himself in to authorities.

The Durant Police Department released his name as being spelled with a "D"... Candro. But this family member assures us that his last name is in fact Cangro with a "G." Durant Police tell us that James Cangro, 28, surrendered himself Sunday morning, and he was then taken into custody.

Police expect that Cangro will be charged with robbery and shooting with intent to kill after he shot a man in the head at a house in Durant.

Durant Police dispatched officers to a home in the 900 block of West Cedar Street just after 10:30 Friday night. They say Cangro shot the victim in the head, took his wallet, and fled the scene.

That victim's name is not being released, but he was flown to a hospital in Oklahoma City and is listed in stable condition.

According to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections website, Cangro had previously been convicted of burglary and aggravated assault and battery.

I knew this guy a while ago and he hasn't changed at all, I am a little surprised that he flipped on his brotherhood though. I try to look him up every once and a while just to make sure that he is put away somewhere. He raped me and threatend my life if I ever told the athorities. I hope to GOD that he stays put away for the rest of my life, I have moved far away and changed my name but he still scares me.

I wonder how many of you can say you've done nothing or how many friend or family you have that are perfect. I wonder if any of you know what it truly means to loose something or sacrifice for someone. The only people that know the truth about those events are Jimmy & the victim. I have read a great deal of judgment and it must be pure bliss to know you live a life with no sin, that is the case here right, because otherwise you're all just throwing stones in a glass house. We all screw up in life sometimes its small & others its unexcusible. The events that contribute to a persons character are set in motion long before we have even taken our first breath. Congratulation to those of you that have been delt a royal flush, and my hat tips to those who have won with only a pair of twos but some of us have been playing with card counters or a short deck our whole lives. It makes us who we are and that is exactly what GOD intended. You know GOD the only true judge that matters.

They sentenced him today. He entered a blind plea and the judge gave him 35 years for 1 count, 10 for another and dropped the third. This is not including the federal time he has due to breaking fed probation. That is another 7 years. Also, hopefully the feds will file an after former on the gun charge and that could add another 20. This boy isn't going to see daylight for a very long time hopefully. It's over and my family can stop being afraid.

You make excuses for this monster. There are no excuses for the kind of filth he turned out to be. We ALL have a choice in how we act so don't blame his parents or anybody else. He made the choice to be on the other side of the law a long time ago. You point out all these "excuses" about why he is breaking the law. Why not tell the whole truth? Tell the public about what he's done. How many hate crimes has he committed? How many underaged girls has he slept with? How many families has he destroyed? He is an abuser, a drug addict, a sex addict, and a hater. Prison is where he belongs and we hope that's where he ends up. He is in this life for one person and always has been. That is himself. He couldn't even stay loyal to his beloved Aryan Brotherhood. He turned states evidence on them in order to get himself out of prison sooner. He's a real bang up sort of guy eh? I hope he's come to the end of the road and doesn't ever see the outside again.

Some things to know about James before you judge him: He had a complex childhood growing up with parents heavily addicted to alcohol and drugs, and lost his true caregiver at a very young age. These do not excuse his actions... but his ability to love himself and others was further thwarted by being named the youngest LT in an Aryan Brotherhood prison gang, and by losing his precious son while incarcerated: Phillip Justin Guymon, 30, on Friday pleaded guilty to beating the little boy and smashing him into a wall on July 31, 2006. An autopsy showed the toddler died of head trauma, and a medical examiner said there were bruises on the child's back, buttocks, chest, abdomen and face. He also had several broken ribsGuymon was charged with second-degree felony child abuse homicide and pleaded guilty to that charge, but through a complex plea agreement was sentenced for a third-degree felony, which is zero to five years behind bars...5 years? Really? that is the true travesty.

Well, i live on the vitctims block. this is a total joke. the victim is a dead beat wannabe meth dealer. Truth be told it was a meth deal gone bad. Cangro actually slept with the victims friend in the house not more than 10 minutes before the shooting. so, no sympathy here.... they both should be arrested. After the victim was released, the cops were at the vics house several times that weeks for domestic with is whatever... LOL they are all just dopeheads.
