DENISON, TX -- A 17-year-old boy was flown to a Dallas hospital after sustaining a head/neck injury in an accident on a Vacation Bible School obstacle course Friday morning at a Denison church.

A pastor at Parkside tells KXII that an MRI has revealed damage to Bolen's spinal cord, and he is expected to have surgery on Monday.

It happened around 11 a.m. at Parkside Baptist Church in Denison. EMTs say the teen feel on his head from roughly 10 feet off the ground.

Church officials say Mark Bolen, 17, was attempting to do a backflip onto a bounce house when he landed wrong and lost all feeling in his body.

Emergency responders where there within minutes, and Bolen was transported by helicopter to Parkland Hospital in Dallas

"At this point he still has partial paralysis. I just talked to the pastor. He says his right side is still paralyzed, he can’t move and doesn't have feeling on the right side. We hope over time that will improve," Dr. Tan Flippin, Minister of education, at Parkside Baptist Church says.

Bolen plays football at Denison High School and will be a senior in the fall. Right now the extent of his injuries is unknown.
