A+ Athlete: Ashton Croft

12.08.06. Ashton Croft is a normal teen, but with a cumulative GPA of a 3.6, he's extremely busy. But it's not just in the classroom that Ashton puts 100%, it's on the field with his teammates as well.

Byron Cordell, Durant HS Football Coach says, "They look up to him because of the way he conducts himself. In the locker room or the field, he's always had a good word to say to the younger guys, the sophomores and freshmen. He gives them a lot of encouragement. He's done a great job for us all the way around.”

Ashton holds the school record for discus throwing and he is the captain of the Durant Lions football team. And the determination and dedication comes from the people he looks up to.

Ashton says, “A lot of that comes from my teachers, and not just one, they've all helped me out in everything. My parents, my father helped me out a lot in school work and he's taught me a lot of good things any kid should know growing up."

Ashton is active in PALS (Peer Assisted Leadership). He also is involved with FCA and works with young and special needs children. So far, his ambition has paid off.

He has been recruited to the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he will compete in track and field. He plans to major in business entrepreneurship.
