Roads will remain treacherous from snow and sleet until mid-day, when sunshine shroud melt most of it away. Snow is likely to remain on the ground until Friday.
A Gainesville family is without a home after fire destroyed their house Saturday afternoon. The blaze was first reported at 1:00pm. The house was on highway 1306, West of Interstate 35. Firefighters said the house was engulfed in flames when they arrived. They said 25-mile-an-hour winds contributed to the fire. Crews from Gainesville, Lindsey, Valley View, Muenster and Era responded. Investigators said electrical wiring was to blame. Firefighters said the house is a total loss, but no one was injured.
