12-26-06 Officials are planning the funeral of former president Gerald Ford. Capitol police officers say they've been told to prepare for Ford's body to lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda.
The former president's family hasn't signed off on any final plans though. The 93-year-old was the 38th president of the United States and is credited with picking up the pieces after the Watergate scandal and president Nixon’s resignation. Twenty-five years later President Clinton awarded Gerald Ford the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his role in getting the country back on its feet after Watergate.
