1-01-07 A new sales tax in Carter County means much needed upgrades for local fire departments. Officials say the tax will raise revenue among all Carter County fire departments. The one-quarter cent tax was approved in July, and is anticipated to generate almost 1.5 million dollars. Officials say they have not yet decided how to divide the money up amongst the fire departments. Ardmore fire officials say they will use the money for equipment, upgrades, and a new training facility. The tax takes effect the first of January.
