Sulphur PD Press Release">
Authorities investigated a bomb threat Wednesday in Sulphur. The Sulphur School District closed all classes Wednesday morning, barricaded the streets, and brought in nine agencies, including a bomb-sniffing dog, to comb every inch of the schools. According to Interim Superintendent Paula Crawford, officials with the school found neatly-typed notes on several doors this morning with a written threat that someone had placed explosive devices in all four schools. It was ultimately determined the danger was a hoax shortly after lunch.
Police say the notes indicate today's threat was the work of a professional and that video surveillance did not show any suspects. The notes have been sent to OSBI for further investigation.
It was just two days ago though, that their current Superintendent Keith Forman resigned his position after thirty years with the district. That action came after pressure from some parents questioning his handling of the district when it came to bond issues.
Students will resume classes tomorrow.
